This is just a random thought. I don’t know if the attendance numbers are publicly available but do y’all think moving to a single game elimination tournament hurts the overall attendance of the tournament?

Going to Hoover was a really big part of my childhood. Some really good memories watching baseball all day, many times till midnight. Haven’t gone as frequently as an adult but have made the trip a few times. I was thinking about going this year just cause I had the time to but with it being on single elimination I can’t really see the point in driving all that way to potentially see just one game.

100% hurts early week attendance. I have often gotten to Hoover on Wednesday. Zero chance I’m doing that if I have a chance to only watch one LSU game.

I am not a fan of the single elimination, but it’s just like all of college sports it’s becoming less important if it’s not post season tournament.

I know the coaches hate the sec tournament because for 90% of the teams it doesn’t change a thing come regionals as far as placement.

The new southland conference tournament format is elite but it wouldn’t make sense for the SEC considering its an 8-12 bid league and the south land is a 1 bid league 98% of time.

(Just to give some insight on the southland tournament. They start conference play a week earlier than every other conference and have a 2 week tournament. #1 and #2 host a regional style 4 team tournament and the 2 winners play a best of 3 this weekend for the ncaa regional bid.)

No reason every teams needs to make tournament. Top 10 modified Dbl Elim format is best way to do it. This will be proven over next few years.

This or as much as I love the tournament being played in Hoover, move it to somewhere like Nashville if it’s going to stay single elimination. I would definitely make that trip to see a game and if we lose just enjoy the city.

Nashville has a great minor league park for it. Tons of fun.

I don’t like single elimination and I don’t like that it’s during the school year. I would love to go to it one day but I wish they could wait one more week to start it. I would rather not travel to possibly be eliminated in one game and I’m certainly not pulling my kids out of school in their last week to get eliminated in one game. Attendance, travel revenue and viewership could get a serious bump if they played later in the day and another week later. I know it all times up with the rest of the season so none of that is possible.

The SEC should adopt the format that the Big Ten is doing this year.

Bama and Auburn might bring some fans since both are having good seasons
If Miss St can get on a run they will bring some fans

LSU fans probably already had plans to go so I expect a nice crowd tonight at least

I think LSU probably not being expected to do much and therefore not bringing as many fans as usual will likely have more effect on attendance.
