Vanderbilt and Ole Miss won with 5 hits each but gave up only 3 and 5 hits.

Georgia lost with 9 hits and Arkansas lost with 8.

The four teams with more than 9 hits all won.

LSU had 1 hard hit, 1 between 1st and 2nd, a bunt against a shifted infield, and a pop-up to short right that was misplayed.

Alabama 15 W
Kentucky 12 W
Tennessee 11 W
State 11 W
Georgia 9 L
Florida 8 W
Arkansas 8 L
Missouri 6 L
TX A&M 5 L
Auburn 5 L
Ole Miss 5 W

LSU baseball simply isn’t what it used to be. Hopefully we make a super this year

I agree. And 1 game doesn't mean a trend has developed. We'll see tomorrow and Sunday.

The point of my post was that you can win against the best pitchers in the SEC with only a few hits, but if you can get 9 or 10 hits you have a much better chance (obviously).

You’re aware we’ve lost a series to Oral Robert’s too huh?

Midweek games don’t matter - win or lose- but weekend series do. Maybe we turn it on and win a couple this weekend. Or maybe we drop our 2nd series of the year 1 series deep into SEC play.

Luckily we get to see what happens on the field

It’s almost like all college teams especially SEC teams are improved over last year. The problem with LSU is that we hit 0.250 last year and have to rely on a ton of freshmen. They’re good but so is everyone else.

Bama’s Friday night guy might be next years number one overall pick.

And it never will be again. Skip reincarnated couldn’t do what he did in the 90’s. There’s simply too much parity across the map. More kids are growing up playing competitive baseball and high level training is accessible to almost anyone. More high school kids are developed now than ever before. Throw in the limited scholarships for baseball and you have a recipe for a shitload of good ball players going to a shite load of different schools. It’s good for baseball. Bad for old school lsu fans who came up being used to dominance. It is what it is. None of this excuses PM by the way. Elite management is still a thing and he’s not on that level.

LSU had 4 hits

One was a bunt into the shift and the other was a pop fly that dropped where the 2B plays lol

This.
Now csn out young players improve more than the other teams?
That’s the key.
