re: SEC refs targeting LSU?

I've said this shite for years. To me it always seems the refs will try to keep the games close. If LSU is up, the get penalized. If they are too far behind like Troy, you'll see LSU catch some breaks.

On the Dillon penalty he was leading with the shoulder which makes it impossible to not have your head out front.
There was a short article on the Dillon call on SBNation. The rule is so vague and broad the refs could not be overturned. The hit was not helmet to helmet or even to head and neck. The hit was shoulder to shoulder. What met the criteria was that he was a defenseless player which is one of the factors and further the NCAA advises the Refs and replay to call targeting if it is even questionable...
This rule needs to be tightened up a lot.

Tightened up a bit? When will the SEC tighten up the refs?

Wait till we play BAMA!

1-800 Call Steve Shaw... i.e. wont happen!
I agree the targeting call was petty. The stroll OOB on the sideline was no excuse (replay man was in the shitter), and the double tap to the head should have been an ejection. Pretty much an average day for the SEC Refs...

Not Bad mouthing O, but it would be nice to see him chew on an official every now and then. Somebody had to tell him that the Florida player stepped out of bounds. He should've been on the field in that officials face and make it impossible for them to be able to run a play. Then the ref on the field could have called for a review and someone could have gotten the replay official out of the bathroom. Sometimes the head coach just has to step in. Miles never did it and it appears that O won't do it either.

Even the announcers made note of how much holding they were doing. And ejection for a questionable targeting but not a landed punch is also horrible
The out of bounds run just blew me away. Not that the ref missed it, because he wasn't in position have a good look. But because he was out of position and it was for a 1st down the ref himself should be wanting review. That's its primary function, refs can't be in best place all the time.
Now when one player throws TWO punches, after the play, when the puncher (defender) threw a BLOCK, to the head, of a guy who didn't retaliate and you have offsetting personal fouls WHILE Birmingham is watching live FOR JUST THAT REASON... we have an issue.

There was a hit on D Williams that was helmet to helmet and was obvious and it was never mentioned, I was so pissed that Danielson never even said a word about it, how could you not see it?

Can someone link a GIF of the guy stepping OOB four times?
Posted on 10/8/17 at 9:13 am to I20goon
Tried to up vote you but fingers to fat LSU has serious issues needing to be addressed by the SEC if not let's just move to the ACC, Fla vacations are nice

What a rip!
No way that's targeting!

O should have been all over them on the out of bounds stuff. If you aren't coaching anything you could at least pay attention to the game just a little bit.

I swear to God I’ve lost my passion for college football strictly because of the officiating. It is much worse in the SEC. Now I’m just a casual observer because I know the game is not on the up and up.

If anyone believes jumping the refs shite doesn't work they are dead wrong. There is a reason Nick Saban explodes on refs every game. It sets up calls later

Why didn't that work for Saban when he was the coach at LSU?
Saban's teams here were consistently penalized at the rate Miles' teams were (one year worse). Our 2003 team was one of the worst offenders ever.
Yet he goes to Bama, and all of the sudden his teams go nearly two SEC seasons without holding?
Hmmmmmmm

NCAA and/or SEC made a rule enforcement issue this past season on sideline warnings. Coaches are not allowed to walk out on the field and wear out the refs anymore. Penalty is ejection. Even Saban is minding his manners... rule was probably for him.
Give me an example where anyone in SEC has done that this year.

The only solution is to get way better at football so the refs couldn't possibly ruin it. It'll never change.
