They've been pushing this crap since A & M joined the SEC and we never considered it to be a rivalry, certainly not like LSU vs. Ole Miss or Alabama or even Arkansas.

So last night they made this happen. I am looking forward to next year in Tiger Stadium and if I can get there an run into the punk who hit Kragthorpe I plan on sucker punching his gay young punk arse.

I might need bail money or a ride to the E. R. as old as I am but if I get a shot I'm taking it.

We miss 100% of shots we don't take. I say do it.

Arkansas has never been a rivalry game - they had to make a hideous boot to try to make it one. We may think BAMA is our rival, but unless there is something at stake in the game (e.g. 2011) they don't look at us as a rival. I'm happy to have aTm in the SEC West and be our last game of the regular season. A rivalry will emerge in this series.

they were considered a rival back in the day when we’d play them every year.

has all the right ingredients for a rivalry.

geographically close
alumni and fanbase has lots of interaction in every day life
similar military backgrounds on the two schools

throw in the new drama with them having the coach we wanted.
and now fisticuffs after the game.

The mutual hatred is growing. This just ramped it up a notch. It takes time and games like this to build a true rivalry. It can't be cobbled together superficially. It will only blossom into the real deal in the future if LSU and A&M start battling and contending for the West championship. But until Saban leaves Alabama I don't see that coming to fruition.

A&M was a good rivalry in the 80s and 90s and will be again. Much better than the fake Arkansas rivalry. I grew up hearing Aggie jokes and always considered them a rival even when they weren’t on the schedule.

thing back to mid 90s when the Auburn rivalry took off.

we didn’t have near the history with them at that time as we did with A&M when they joined SEC.

but the way those games played out heated that into a rivalry FAST.

now we got A&M with a lot more history. We played them every year from 60-75 and again from 86-95.

lots of interaction between canvases in every day life. lot of alumni work together in some fashion.

closest team geographically.
share some recruiting territory.

we already have drama
the shady way Chavis left
the Jimbo angle

now we add some on-field fuel and a fight after the game.

all we need now is for the West to be “in play” for the game.

the SEC and TV thought that just because the two states bordered each other that it could become a rivalry.

but the two schools are in complete opposite corners of their states.
there is virtually no crossover between alumni and fan bases.
yeah we played a few times prior to ‘92, but there was zero real history.
and very rarely was anything of consequence still at stake for both schools by the time game happened.

‘02 and ‘11 were only 2 games i remember where both teams were still alive for the West.

maybe had those two games happened closer together and more often, something could have developed.
the Miles/Petrino drama in ‘11 could have helped, but Bobby got canned and they fell off the map that offseason.

I honestly, after witnessing that game and all that came with it can now say that i hate that school more than i hate Bama...

I wish we could play them again in the bowl game I hate them so much now... I work with and am around Aggies all day, if i was around the kind that were like "yeah yall got robbed" id be fine... but Im around the ones that are like "yeah told you we'd kick your arse".... yeah, their stupid, and i dont associate with them and its just a game, but i do hate them now. and want their school to burn to the ground... the end

Maybe if LSU hadn't gotten back into the NCG in 2007, then the Arkansas rivalry would've become something.
