If it was true that Kevin Faulk was being considered he probably wasn't hired because O was intimidated by his him. Faulk carries a lot more weight and clout on that campus and with the fan base than O does.

GM = general manager.

It is a title made up by Eaux to get Austin Thomas a raise. Nothing more, nothing less.

LSU fans are proving their idiocy being concerned over a position they didn't even know existed until the former guy left.

He was basically a recruiting assistant to Coach Eaux.

It's a paper shuffling job that most schools don't even have. GM is a glorified title

A lot of fans knew exactly who AT was and what he meant to LSU recruiting. Coach O may have giving him a new position name, but AT deserved it. AT landed Stevens and Phillips for us, along with several others.

I think "most" is a huge understatement in this case. At the time of his bogus promotion Austin Thomas was 1 of 2 general managers in college football and the only one in the SEC.

Now that AT is unemployed I believe there is now only one GM in college football. It is an unnecessary position and that is why only 1 college has a GM.

Who cares, it is a made-up position anyway.

They created that title for AT.

Just another name for a non-on-the-field coaching spot that helps in recruiting.

Whether we call them Assistant to Head Coach in charge of player personnel, General Manager, or Deputy Director of Winning, it is all the same.

Made up jobs to get as much recruiting and other non-on-the-field coaching folks working as possible.

Did you know Steven's grandparents live in Crowley, LA? Did you know all of his family besides his parents and sister all reside in Louisiana? He began visiting LSU when he was four years old to see Mike the Tiger. He was coming to LSU with or without AT. Corey Raymond was a much bigger factor than some guy who sits in air conditioning all-day every day.

Nope, Nope, Nope. He was not responsible for Leonard Fournette coming to LSU, unlike some articles has stated.

in other words, you dont know what Austin did or why he was called a GM so you think it wasnt real.

even if you were right, and youre not, that alone should make filling the position a top priority going into 2019, but of course orgeron is too inept to concede that. he apparently thinks he can recruit the entire country by himself, which must be why we're killing it with all of our top ranked out-of-state guys this year.

you mean the guy Miles offered when he was a freshman in HS?

yeah, absolutly no one thinks Austin (who was in his first season at LSU when Fournette signed in '14) was responsible for that.

Well this is probably the STUPIDEST thing of all the stupid you posted.

If Eaux was too inept to concede that, he probably wouldn't be in the process of hiring Kevin Faulk as the Director of Player personnel.

Nine of the 20 signees are from out of state. Including the #1 JUCO OT in the nation from New York and the #2 JUCO OG from Mississippi. It is possible it will also include the #1 CB in the nation from Florida before the class is finished.

Yeah, so you are right that he's killing it with all of our top ranked out-of-state guys this year.

Thomas has left LSU twice in 2 years, and add on that he (supposedly) was recruiting Traore to TN like the day after he resigned from LSU....not sure he needs to come back. Like the guy, and he did a lot of good for LSU, but now he’s unemployed by his own doing. Wish him well.

you must have some wired-in personal sources because the only thing Ive seen about Faulk is that he'd be a member of the support staff. whatever that means.

i love Faulk, i think he's as responsible as anyone for bringing LSU back from the dead, as important as Emmert and Saban (it was talent like that that lured saban here), but even if he is the new DPP, theres nothing in his history to suggest he'd be good at it.

that job requires endless organizational, marketing, and recruiting skills. if he's supposed to be replacing Austin, throw talent evaluation and scouting into the mix as well. you dont just hire a famous alum for that job (at least you dont if youre competent).

and the top ranked one so far is just inside the top 200 at 191. Im glad to have him, I think he'll be very good, but thats not exactly a coup.

our top 3 commits last year (numbers 18, 37, and 48 overall) were all out of state.

Including the #1 JUCO OT in the nation
again, another guy Im happy to have, but "#1" doesnt mean much year to year.

the JUCO pool is tiny, his rating is .9020, meaning that if he was a HS prospect he'd be around number 300.

the OG would be a 3-star somewhere in the 900's.

people are acting as if these guys are plug and play and theyre anything but.

well frick, I hope so, LSU has been working him for years. its not as if 0 is pulling him out of nowhere the way Miles did with P7.

NO true Tiger fan would ever wish for a coaching change in the middle of the season BEFORE a season even starts.

This is the time of optimism. I get it, you call Coach O names and have no confidence in his ability to lead. But a new offensive philosophy & a new QB should give even the most crusty cynic at least a measure of hope.

What qualifications does Faulk have that make you think he would be good in a Player Personnel position? I’ve wanted KF to have some sort of position at LSU for a while now, but I don’t know if this is the right one for him. Just because he has SB rings doesn’t mean he can recruit(on campus, obviously) and do the other administrative duties associated with the position.

So you are saying that hiring Kevin Faulk is a bad idea? Okay then.

Well, who the heck was the head coach during last year's signing class. Did you forget already?

Brilliant man, just brilliant.

Still sucks for you though doesn't it. I'm sorry LSU is recruiting good during a down year in Louisiana. I don't know what to say, hopefully some of the signees will change their mind and not show up. Then you will have something to really cry about. Good luck
