I trust O.

If we were to grade Scott’s Offensive ranking at Dallas...

‘14. 5/32 85% B
‘15. 31/32 3% F
‘16. 5/32. 85% B
‘17. 14/32 56% F
‘18. 22/32 31% F

Total 52% F

What he brings to our table? I don’t know...I don’t get it. But, O knows and I trust him.

Wait...you grade a team as an F because they finished better than MOST teams in the NFL? In other words they were average to slightly above average and they get an F?

And the 5th ranked offense in the NFL is a B???

ETA: based on your math the 10th ranked team in the NFL would be graded as a D. Top ten.

Some of you are mind bogglingly stupid.

Dude has been out of football for a whole year. He’s almost made it through 2 full hiring cycles before being hired. He’s pretty much the definition of a retread

He was available at this time last year, but we took Brady instead.

This hire was supposed to be the guy to eventually take over for Ensminger, and was supposed to be the guy to recruit QBs and bring in guys like Caleb Williams.

And I'm just not seeing it here.

This is an atrocious hire. There's no spinning it.

Inside knowledge? This guy has bounced around the league for years, and hasn't been anywhere for long, with good reason.

Now if you want to call that "inside" knowledge, then I must be an insider. But I call it "common" knowledge.

What gets ME is how some fans are so deluded with their fandom, that they throw a tantrum when anyone questions the team.

Actually, he developed Donte Culpepper with the Vikings, then went back to work for Saban with Dolphins, and after failing at Rams he went to Lions and developed Stafford, then developed Dak at Cowboys.

He didn't "bounce around for good reason"; his career resembles that of almost every coordinator. Look at Wade Phillips resume, or any guru/genius coordinator on either side of the ball.

Everyone wants the next Joe Brady or Todd Mcvay...it's not like there's plenty of those to chose from.

Point is, what someone like Brady could add to the offense was already added. Ed stated he was looking for someone with expertise in areas of the offense LSU currently isn't proficient at. Not to change the offense wholesale, but to add that bit of knowledge they aren't versed in.

Linehan is an expert at running out of a pass look, and he's damn good at developing QBs. He isnt being asked to be the OC. 31 years of experience, im sure he understands passing concepts. 75% of this board thinks they have more football intelligence than professionals who do this for a living.

Anyone know if under his time in Detroit they were running the Saints offense? I know Detroit ran that for awhile but I'm unsure when that started.

This is what I was wondering as well looking at his past. I mentioned that earlier LSU would've been wise to look at someone like Rich Rod to implement a better run scheme to their already efficient spread passing attack.

Sooooooo… did a little research and he is definitely not an RPO guy. This is a head scratcher. I like the Pelini hire this not at all.

Aside from the "who" of this hire, this approach doesn't lead to success in general.

We just had what many call the greatest season in the history of CFB and this is what our dumbass fricking ignorant miserable fans come up with.

It's been widely discussed quite a bit on LSU radio stations and various boards, including this one.

Here's an article from Shea at 247 that touched on this -

quote:

"So I think the thought process was, with (the 61-year-old) Steve Ensminger in his 60s, that if he were to retire now, well, Brady would move right into LSU's OC. If he retired in a year, Brady would call plays alongside him again and then move into that role. So I think LSU was certainly promising him a path to the OC job, however quickly that came, I guess would be determined.

quote:

"And now I think that's what we're watching moving forward — what, is Steve Ensminger going to come back for another year? Does he say, 'Look, I'm going out on top,' and now LSU's looking for not just a replacement for Joe Brady's spot, but a new offensive coordinator as well?

So now, I think everyone is really watching what's going to go on with Steve Ensminger and maybe more so what happens with the next passing game coordinator role or whatever role they decide to fill. It was created for Joe Brady. So I'm interested. I think that will be the one thing to watch. Most knew that, if Brady stayed at LSU, he would be the OC one day. But what does Steve Ensminger do? Will it be OC one more year? I know his contract runs through next March, not this one. Or does he ride off into the sunset now and LSU's looking for a couple new position coaches?"

Steve has never indicated he was ready to retire. In fact, he’s said the exact opposite. That article you quoted is all conjecture.

Folks on recruiting board suggesting Linehan could also be valuable as a strong connection to Nussmeier’s son, who is a great looking QB prospect.

Ok...

‘14. 5/32 85% A 4 top 15 of the league
‘15. 31/32 3% F 0 almost last in the league
‘16. 5/32. 85% A 4 top 15% of the league
‘17. 14/32 56% C 2 just better than half of the league
‘18. 22/32 31% F 0 again, almost dead last.

10 out of a possible 20... so 50%...

What grade does he get now?

We'll see how it works out. This dude has bounced around more than Pamela Anderson on Baywatch.
