Sure. Maybe even a civil suit.

Dude, the players don't have time to go suing people. They need to focus on the season.

If it's confirmed they were involved in the fight (not just trying to pull people out, but throwing punches) then I think some playing time should be lost. The amount is totally up to the coach.

Hopefully my sarcasm meter is still working.
You don't think the 'victims' will try to gain compensation for their damages?

If it comes down to the fact that they were defending themselves and the other dude got the worst of it, tough luck....

Let's hope that's what the BRPD concludes

Yes. For breaking breaking curfew, which resulted in them putting themselves in the middle of a bad situation, which in turn brought negative publicity to the program/university as well as creating a distraction for the team.

So, if there was no police involvement... Just a facebook photo of some guy after he lost a bar fight with multiple LSU players after curfew.

Word gets out that the team was out drinking after curfew and getting into bar fights.

No one loses playing time?

They brought "ill repute" to LSU by fighting? This ain't Vandy, bro.

Joe Alleva himself said he will "not allow" anyone to tarnish "the good name of a great university."

The following is a statement from LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva regarding the off-campus incident involving members of the football team on Thursday night:

"We will not tolerate student-athletes whose irresponsible actions tarnish the good name of a great university. LSU student-athletes are expected to behave with the understanding that they represent their school, their fellow students and the long history of this program, regardless of the time of day. Coach Miles has already begun taking disciplinary action. It is critical that we are deliberate in determining the facts surrounding this incident and as Coach Miles said, when the facts are clear, additional and appropriate disciplinary action will be taken if necessary."

Undoubtedly. That they broke curfew is enough. That they brought ill repute to the univeristy, icing on the cake that is a suspension.

Hasn't the curfew thing been addressed time and again. It was the equivalent of senior "cut day" in HS. It was expected. Things got out of hand, but half the damn team was out.

Regardless, if during Senior cut day a bunch of Seniors brought unwanted bad light to the school, I guarantee you they'd be punished for it.

And les didn't sound too happy with it:

quote:

"I can tell you the last couple of days have been miserable for us. We have been involved in behavior that is unacceptable to me and our team. Guys have broken team rules and violated curfew. I can tell you and assure you that this will not happen again. I can tell you that this is a remorseful team here. I personally want to apologize for the actions of my team. We are very fortunate to represent a wonderful school and community. We should do so respectfully and understand that our actions have consequences. I have met with both the team and the unity council on several occasions since this incident. It is obvious to me that they want a redirection and to take ownership in that redirection. Whatever legal proceedings that are ongoing we will cooperate with and see how that all figures. I know that they are still gathering information and at the appropriate time we will take strong action. I can tell you we have started disciplining our team because this was a team violation. This was not just a guy. This was the team. We ran them and are running them. They hear with every call up, every snap and every coach's instruction."
