Because the player making the claim was from that era.

No cell phones in the 80’s or 90’s and LSU is fricking on a Title IX shite show because if some of those “dawgs”.

I know specific details about Michael Brooks for example and others that had to be helped out of a jam.

LSU is under a microscope like no time in its history since these last 2 morons.

Who said there were cell phones in the 1980-90s?? I don’t recall anyone making that claim.

Players from the 1980-90s do attend practices. They have watched, observed and made their judgments.

Not sure players from those eras are the ones who should be making judgments on winning cultures.

We lost, you’re in your feelings and decided to land in “we’re not tough because Kelly isn’t tough.”

I understand why you think that, but you don’t understand why our safeties ate important to stopping the run, so you maybe ease up on the condescending tone.

I’m sure they and myself have more LSU bowl rings than you do and some went on to the NFL.

That's cool but none of them were a part of any great, winning culture at the college level.

The game has also changed a great deal since the 80's and 90's, even if you're telling the truth, I'm not sure it actually proves anything besides it being someone's opinion.

Even outsiders who are not on the inside could see we had culture problems on defense last year. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist. But I trust the opinions of someone who actually played @ LSU who saw things 1st hand vs a random on a message board, who never played at the collegiate level

Well yeah, but we're talking about this year...

And it's fine if you believe your statements, I was just curious if you had legitimate information to share.

Yes. The discussion was from this year. A whole thread was zapped, but the cliff notes is former players who attend the full practice (not just the part the media sees) say we are soft and it starts with Brian Kelly.

Assuming this is even true, any player from the 80's or 90's is going to say modern day teams are soft.

That's nothing groundbreaking.

True. But watch any football. Our tackling is below average. I was in Vegas & sat in the EZ, our OL could not get 1-2 yards when we needed it. we weren’t prepared. We had glaring problems in TX A&M 2H & had 2 weeks to prepare & everyone saw the result. Our softness relative to other teams is plain. I haven’t been to a practice on the Ponderosa in 25 years.

I do, I watch a ton of CFB

Every fanbase says this, the truth of the matter is that tackling is bad across the board.

I will agree that our safeties can't tackle to save their lives.

Agreed.

we weren’t prepared.

Fans have cliches they like to throw out when a team looks bad, this is one of them.

There is literally no way for a fan to really know if the team was prepared or not.

I don’t think you hear a ton of casual fans talking about a team’s “culture”. That’s usually coaches and players.

"Culture" is thrown around on this site every day.

Same as "the team isn't prepared."

Or "playcalling is bad."

Or "a lack of creativity."

No one can begin to accurately judge any of this except for the players and coaches who are actually involved.

Well, if you are talking about an avg couch potato who only played intramural sports, 100% agree.

If you say former players from that school and some who have played in the NFL, they are more than qualified to judge based on what they see.

what's that got to do with

"the team isn't prepared."

Or "playcalling is bad."

Or "a lack of creativity."

all of the above is true
