May be some truth to this but unless someone has true access to the program and is on the sidelines, there’s no way to really know.

Did your 80s/90s sounding board mention why their era is considered the dark days of LSU football? Those teams had constant off field issues. They lacked even decent leaders - players and coaches.

well, i know 1st hand what it wast like towards the end of Hallman through first couple years of DiNardo.

I dont disagree that our defense is in general lacking dawgs.

But do you really think Ryan Sage is bad because of Kelly’s demeanor?

That was one thing about O, he had toughness and aggression installed.

Never heard of Ryan Sage.

Have you ever played football? Teams 100% feed off their coach. There's a reason that "Teams play like their coaches". it's 100% about culture. and toughness is not a part of our current culture.

I guess, but there are a lot of different coaches out there and they produce a lot of different results.

Sage Ryan, Major Burns and gilbert have been pretty bad for various coaches

I dont think Blake Baker is soft,
I think we lack talent.

I still believe in Kelly but this is true. We are not physical like we used to be. Something needs to change

Kirk Herbstreit- remarked in the difference between the personnel in the field compared to Bama players and basically said they don’t have the same quality of players in the field as Bama. Referring to talent, size, aggressiveness and strength.

This really struck me Saturday night. I’ve never heard a commentator remark on the disparity of quality players between 2 programs that were supposedly on the same level

i think you missed the point.

being a bad technique football player (your point) is different than not being a "tough" football player (my point). those aren't the same thing. you can be bad at both.

Yet his last two teams played soft as baby shite and flat-out quit at times. Do you remember UK clubbing us to death? Bama beating our brains out at home in 2020? They got off the mat a few times, but don’t act like the toughness didn’t fall through the fricking floor BEFORE Kelly got here.

That said, he’s had plenty of time to turn it around and hasn’t.

you clearly missed the point.

Ok, idk how many times i have to tell you, i understand your point

I don’t agree with you as to the cause.

you can’t condescendingly say “teams take on their coaches personality” and they try and deflect when people bring up examples of that not being true.

what you are (still) failing to grasp is this is a discussion 100% about culture.

guess who sets the tone for any team on any level? play a game. any game. any sport. on any level.

Brian Kelly sets a weak tone. it's part of the culture and ethos of this team. it's clearly evident to most. Just watch a game or a quarter of a game.

So it sounds like a personnel issue rather than the coach’s demeanor issue.

this is 100% a culture issue. if we want to be in the 12-team playoff, we need a better culture. guess who's job that is?

you miss the point. this is a criticism by a former player of the culture created by Brian Kelly. Culture is everything and it was on display in a very bad way Sat night.
