a lot of comments on here go way past 'doubt'. Not saying by you in particular.

Would you feel confident if Jimmy Clausen started for the Saints? Comparatively stat wise, JJ = Clausen. Not sure why it's so hard to understand why people who watch every LSU game have serious doubts about JJ.

I might quit commenting on these QB threads , I might but i doubt it (how else am I going to crack double digits?). But somebody has to defend JJ. I'm a fan of his in that he plays for LSU. But I don't have a horse in that race. Dosn't matter to me. If Mett shows he has superior talent, and I of course like superior talent at any position on the team, then all the better and I would hope he would be the starter. I'm sure coach Miles doesn't feel any different. Why would he?

How is he supposed to do that with walk ons?

He'll have his chance.

You'll see in 2012 what a real QB looks like. Mett obviously isn't being given a chance this year. Good thing about the news in this thread is I now won't be making the trek down next weekend. No need to drive that far and watch Mett throw 3 balls to walk ons.

All anyone expects is an open competition. Is Mett really getting a fair shot running with the walkons?
I have no idea.
However, let's hope playing JJ will not cost us wins next year due to the horrible and inconsistent QB play we have seen for the last 3 years. If not for JLee, we easily drop to TN and FL last year. And the world is not so pretty for Miles. Miles owes JLee big as those 2 wins led to LSU giving Miles a huge extension.

I think Mettenberger will have to develop wheels to beat out JJ. Period.

man, what were we argueing about all this time when the answer was right in front of us. Start Lee! Get back, Mett get back to where you once belonged. JoJo go home.

Who said Mett was playing with walk ons? This is one scrimmage anyway. Pretty sure he's thrown TD passes to guys who not only have schollies, but will also likely be featured in 2011 as receivers. A lot of this crap is blown WAY out of proportion.

Yeah, last year the player haters went crazy during spring practice defending or bashing. Same logic should apply this year.

107th ranked QB in the nation, probably wouldn't have too many guys crying over his departure.

Did Wright get his scholly yanked? He's caught a couple TDs from Mett in scrimmages this spring.
What about Fobbs?

I knew we had to many schollies, and was wondering how we were gonna get down to 83. Now I know...yank all the schollies from the WR corps.
