Also, no shade on the other 2 teams on our side of the bracket, but I feel like the ARK is the ONE to win.
That's a good point. Unlike 2023, the No. 1 overall seed will not be waiting for you if you win game 1. That's not to say UCLA or Murray St couldn't beat LSU, but that figures to be less of a challenge than beating a fully stocked Arkansas team in game 1.

I think ideally we try and stretch Kade to 7 innings. I agree with going to Shores after that. He has looked pretty good as of late in relief duties.

When did Shores replace Evans as the best closer on this team? It certainly wasn’t against Little Rock.
Evans was on an All SEC or All American type trajectory as a closer until we had to use him as our 3rd starter. In the CWS if you stay in the winners bracket you may get by a lot of games with only using your tiop 2 starters.

Check both guys stats from the series, Jay is an analytics junky, not sure he’ll do it this way but don’t be surprised if it happens
Kade, 3 runs on 7 hits,10K
Eyanson, 0 runs 5 hits,11K,

You’re being downvoted because Evans is the presumed game 3 starter. I think you try to avoid using him, but yes you do go to him if need be imo. Could still pitch in game 3 easily too.
With the elongated schedule in Omaha and playing for all the marbles we very easily could see Evans Saturday in relief in a close game and again Wednesday if Jay thinks he’s most reliable.
Shores also said yesterday it’s Omaha, he’d pitch til his arm falls off if called upon. We’re going to see Shores and Evans in multiple games I’m sure. Anderson and Eyanson will both start 2 games over the next 10 days if we’re still playing and if we have to go to losers bracket and make CWS semifinal elimination we’d see Anderson start a second time Thursday after he starts Saturday. Like Skenes did against WF

suspect that to be the case. If that is the case, then LSU should be the favorite to win the game. If LSU is the favorite to win game 1, they should also be favored to win the championship because of how the bracket falls. Seems the betting markets are slightly mispriced towards Arkansas
Please explain why you think the market is off? You dont think arkansas has a top notch pen arm ready to roll saturday if needed

Its not likely, but its not crazy either. Like choup previously mentioned, its happened before.
Shipp did it, and for those who forgot, in 2017 game 1, lsu went from lange to poche in game 1 against fsu to give us a chance late, and poche closed it out

Well for one the main reason Jay went with Eyanson against Little Rock in gm 1 was because DBU struggled against lefties so he saved Kade for DBU.
Also Kade has never not started gm 1 all season other than Regionals for that only reason. I would bet my house on Kade starting against Arkansas. Kade did a great job against this Arkansas lineup as well

Thanks, Josh. I forgot about Poche pitching in relief against FSU in game of the 2017 CWS.
As I said earlier, I would expect Evans to try and slam the door if we have a late lead vs Arkansas, but I “would not be surprised” if we saw Eyanson.
