I' haven't checked all the threads so this have been covered already.. why did Salvion Smith leave the program to begin with?

And.... LSU ranked 13 by Rivals in recruiting. Not stirring anything... just asking... Miles was normally in the top 10 and O supposedly is a strong recruiter. Any idea his recruiting class isn't ranked higher?

For smith he got buried on the depth chart and left because he wouldn't get any PT except special teams.
For recruiting, recruiting is down this year in Louisiana with a monster class expected next year. Combine that with the coaching change you get a 12-16 class

Some people just don’t follow this close enough, which I understand. All of our big fish are left on board....we will not end up where we are now. Feel very good about finishing in the top ten. This class fills important needs as well, look for these names to become familiar ones very soon

Drug test.

The staff is trusting their evaluations and are taking lower ranked guys. Also he’s going to miss on a few of the big fish in state- Justin Rogers 5* QB, Jamar Chase 5* WR, Devonta Jason 4* WR.

With that said - they have the potential to finish very strong. Looks like they’ll land 5* Patrick Surtain and 5* Terrace Marshall. They have a shot at 5* Anthony Cook. Then they have a slew of 4*’s that they might land- Harold Joiner, James Foster, Justin Watkins, Lawrence Keys, Badara Traore, Kelvin Joseph.

They can finish with a top 10 class. 2019 is one of those monster classes in the state, similar to 09 and 14. They should be top 5 if not #1.

Not sure if they have more spots due to the mass transfers but i expect they finish with-

5* - Patrick Surtain
5* - Terrace Marshall
4* - Justin Watkins
4* - Kelvin Joseph
4* - Badara Traore
3* - Glenn Beal

One of: Harold Joiner, James Foster, Lawrence Keys, Pooka Williams or Joseph Foucha.

Smith failed multiple drug tests.

Bama is a bit more "flexible" when it comes to grades and drugs. Deal with it.

They’re brining in 2 Juco olineman but it’s more for depth. Your starting Oline next year will be

LT: Sahdiq
LG: Brumfield
C: Clapp or Cushenberry
RG: Ed Ingram
RT: Deculus or Badaroe

Is that code for, they not coming to LSU so we will evaluate others as being as good?

LSU has to wrap up the state. We don't need another yr. that sees 7 of the top 10 guys go out of state. That's simply not a good sign. And where is our difference maker at QB or our next great RB? With the major success of our RBs the last 4 yrs, shouldn't great RBs be lining up to come here?

If your into off the rant or these recruiting sites they are just for click bait. So many kids that are legit SEC material can’t afford camps to get noticed or they can’t make enough of then to get more eyeballs on them. To me there is no difference in a 3 and 4 Star Player. Absolutely none. 5 Stars are a dime a dozen and lsu as well as others programs hit on maybe 50% of it. Just look for bodies on both lines of scrimmage First. Receives, backs and DB’s will never be a huge issue at LSU.

True, but this shows a small flaw int he ranking system.

Miles always had a top 10 class primarily based on highly rated skill position players. He did not recruit the lines well.

So he ended up with a bunch of highly ranked classes but neglected areas of real need.

To me classes should be ranked on a combination of stars and how well a team filled their needs.

A dozed 4/5 star recruits at DB and WR doesn't mean much when you have no QB, no lines and are weak at LB...like many of Les' classes.

Marijuana suspension. Disappointing because he has a good frame and looked promising his freshman season.

I would say it's a pretty good rule of thumb to judge a recruiting class at the end of the cycle. Orgeron's recruiting MO has always been to grab underrated guys early and finish strong with the 'big fish'. If that's the case with this class it could be very good even with a down year in Louisiana.
I won't worry about Orgeron in the recruiting department until he gives me something to worry about. If we end up missing on a bunch of guys this class, I will be concerned.

Side note: I'll be interested to see where Alabama finished up this cycle. They seem to be much lower than usual in the team rankings as well.

No it’s exactly what i said. He missed.

I love you jackass’s who don’t follow recruiting and then come in every year and this time and poke holes.

We signed 2 all American QB’s last year. They recruited Justin Rogers but he had a bad taste after seeing what happened to Brandon Harris and how he was used at LSU. Rogers loves TCU’s offense and after his major knee injury he’s been traveling to Dallas to receive treatment.

We then went after Justin Fields and lost to Georgia.

Now they’re going after James Foster.

As far as the RB situation- Juluke was fired because he couldn’t land Cam Akers and then he slow played Travis Etienne.

You can’t just pull these kids out of air. They’re going after a top 50 player in Harold Joiner, they have a 4* in Chris Curry committed, 3* Tae Provens committed and they’re trying to land Pooka Williams.

If you want a difference making RB you have to look at the ‘19 Class. They have Tyrion Davis and they look like they’re going to land Noah Cain 5* #1 RB in the country. They’re also recruiting John Emery heavily.

Either pay attention to recruiting or don’t.
