Reid has been underwhelming the entire season, especially in the tackling department

He's a high hitter, not a tackler. Probably will have to make his niche in special teams. He still has a lot of development to be very good on the next level IMO

he will be the first safety taken period

I will disagree. I think there is no way he is the first S taken, he may be the third. Someone mentioned his hips earlier. He's not nearly as fluid as guys that went really high at S in the past few years. Good player, good kid. With that said, #20-#40 IMO

Reid is much smarter than Peterson, Claiborne, and almost any defensive player LSU has had in a very long time. He won't score a 7 on the Wonderlic. Reid played hurt and IMO he was trying to do too hard (over compensating) sometimes this year.

Yea smart like he was on how to catch somebody when your further up the field than they are.

I agree with the OP. Reid is good, but he has a long way to go to be a great safety. Not real fast, a good tackler, not a great tackler. Laron Landry had a way better career in college than he has, IMO, and Laron has struggled at times in the NFL. Reid is good, but has a long way to go.

Last season, YES....this season, not so much...he had a horrible 2012 season

Better stats while being surrounded by freshmen in the secondary. While I agree having TM7 and Mo as your CBs hides certain things, it also allows the safety to not have to cheat to protect the inexpereinced players on the field which does happen in any sport.

We lacked a lockdown corner this year. Safeties get burnt every year. Ed Reed does, LAron Landry does, etc in the NFL. It still doesn't change the fact that they are still good. Reid made alot of great plays this year, but as with all LSU fans on the rant, we all remember the 4-5 blown coverages and forget all else.

Yes he is a late first round talent.

Reid was better in 2012 than in 2011. You hit the nail on the head with your second sentence, but you shite the bed with your first one.

If he can learn to take better angles and wrap-up he can have a solid NFL career. He's not a first rounder, however

I'm not going to argue the round. I think he'll be close to the end of the first, but we'll see soon enough. The money isn't in wrapping up anymore; it's in dealing violence, breaking the will, and reaping turnovers - especially in the NFL.

Reid is an outstanding hitter but his cover skills seem to be lacking. He'll do well at safety but not pro-bowl material. 1st or 2nd rounder at worst. Congrats to him. It's been fun watching him play and he's as much a part of our outstanding defense as anyone over his career. Interception vs. Ala. is one of the all-time best defensive plays EVER in all of college football. Thank you Mr. Reid for your time and service to the LSU football program. Geaux represent in the NFL baby! You've earned it.
