Ryan Baker: "I've been on more talented defenses in the past"

his words...on the inside LSU football show. He did say because of the cohesiveness that this defense was different (sets them apart) from any other he's been a part of.

Yeah I didn't understand that comment much, I think he just confused what he was trying to say

Well, the defense last season was much more talented in all honesty at the start of the year.
Nevis was well ahead of Anthony Johnson, although AJ's ceiling is much further.
Sheppard was the best LBer we've had since Bradie James, and there is only one PP7. TM7 is a beast, but he's not PP7.
I think this defense is faster, but he's probably referring to those guys and what they meant to the team.

Rumor is he was getting some pussy in his room the night before the game.

Translates to... "While I may have been on defenses with a higher level of individual talent, the cohesiveness of our current defense allows us to kick serious arse anyway. Death to all who oppose us. etc. etc. lamentation of their women. etc. etc. etc."

The secondary is the defense and the best I've ever seen. The line and linebackers are nowhere near the best individually or as a group.

That is against the rules?
I am suprised they can find 11 eligible.

I agree and will withhold judgement until more games are played, but the defensive line has a chance to be special IMO.

Last years defense had Sam Mo, Nevis, Kelvin, Pp7, Claiborne, Reid, TM7, Loston, Taylor, and Simon so....

the only noticible difference i see is not having shep in the middle.
Brockers is going to make a name for himself.
Logan is underrated, and The Freak will be All-SEC freshman

I don't know about that, on a pure talent basis - this line is up there. I'm not sure if we're EVER going to have a line like the gold standard of 2003. With Spears and Hill at the ends, and William and Lavalais at tackle - four guys who all started NFL games (2 still starting, and almost certainly big Marquise would still be) - all at the college prime, it was almost unfair.
ETA: I agree on the LB corps, but there were no elite LBers on the 2003 squad, either. The line was arguably the best and the secondary was up there, for sure - similar to what we have now.

Did that rumor start here, or did you see it somewhere else? I'm just wondering b/c there's absolutely NO substance to what I wrote Sat night.
