Jeez... do I once again have to wade into this and set the record straight. RS is NOT a WR, RR is not a WR, TT is not a WR. We do not have any WR on the team. They are place holders that is all. WR's catch the ball and apparently that isn't going to be happening this year at LSU unless JJ get hurt.

I'm not sure that you know what a slot receiver is. He lines up in the backfied, yes, but he is beyond the OT or TE (outside the realm of where you run a pitch play). If you RUN a pitch, you pull him inside and RUN the ball.

Where in my post did I say ANYTHING about catching the ball. You are calling others a dumbass...look in the mirror.

Do you pitch the ball 10 yards to the slot?

FAIL. You can motion the slot WR through the backfield and run anything you want with him. A toss sweep, an option, a handoff, whatever. And for the record, a slot WR can line up anywhere as long as he is 2 yards off the LOS. He does not have to be outside the OT or TE. Wow, stick to x-box.

WTF are you talking about. Shep scored on running plays from the slot WR position on a motion sweep handoff. You are clueless.

And he won't last long at slot if JJ leads him too long.

If he tried to run up the middle he would get slaughtered. Shep is best working from the slot receiver position. He doesn't have the frame to constantly try to run from a stand-still in the backfield.

And dont give me that he's too little crap thats bs, mcluster was very small.... Ps how big do you think chris johnson is dummies, he's the bes back in the nfl, 5'11 and a lean 200 ( what they list him at)... Speed kills shep could play RB...

If Trindon Holliday can play college football at all, Shep is big enough to run the ball up the middle without getting killed. Some people on here are just pathetic. Just because your whimpy asses might be that size and you would get killed trying to run a ball against a college defense does not mean that Russell Shepard, one of the greatest athletes in the world, cannot do it.

Really? I didn't know that. I guess they didn't have that play on Tecmo Super Bowl. Idiot.

It's not that Shepard is to small to play running back (even if that's where we wanted to play him), for one thing he doesn't have the physical strength to play running back. Holiday was faily strong for his size. McCluster and Johnson look much tougher and stronger than Shepard also. It doesn't matter what Shepard bench presses or squats, he just doesn't look very physical, tough, or strong on the field. He is fast and shifty, and can develop into a very good (or maybe even great) slot WR if he works on his hands.

I really wish people on this board would learn something about football. It's WAY too early to tell if RS is a good football player or just a very fast, agile person who can make big plays with a football in his hand. Those two things, are very freaking different things. He's not the greatest catcher in the world, he's definitely not the greatest blocker in the world (recievers have to block sometimes too). He said himself he doesn't have what it takes to play QB after last years Florida game. Furthermore, the big plays he's had, have all been against pushover defenses with relatively masterful blocking. So, with that said, people need to realize LSU is loaded with 4 and 5 star recruits (based off their performances in highschool). You people act like we are some mediocre university who usually gets lucky to have 3 stars and he's the 1 5 star we've gotten in the last decade. Pull your heads out your rears. In the SEC he'll have plenty of 4 and 5 star linebackers, safetys and cornerbacks pursuing him as well. To think one player would be so significant is irrational. In the SEC you have to have talent everywhere, and beat the other team with good play calling. A one man team is easy to stop if the defense keys on him, and this has happened plenty of times. Julio Jones is a great wide reciever, but he got shut down last year because, on passing plays, if there was one reciever to be covered, it was him. You think they were screaming to put Julio in the backfield? No, they needed to distribute the ball to other players, Mark Ingram , Richardson, Maze... the list goes on. This isn't a damn video game, and Shephard has started two games now, and they have been warm up compared to the defensive personal that will be covering him in the future. He's a great football player, but so is most of the players on LSU's team.

If there's one thing you should take out of this thread, its this: "Saying Shep should play QB or even that he is a better than average reciever at this point (with the passes he's freaking dropped already this season) is rediculous. He's a great athelete, whether that translates to a great (whatever his damn position ends up being) has yet to be determined."

For a guy who just started playing a position for the first time in his life, at a Big Time College Football level, he's a pretty good receiver.

Sure he's dropped some passes from a QB who throws a nose down, no touch pass. He's also made some noce catched in the last two weeks. One for a TD.

He's in the right position. If they played him at RB, he'd be in the hellzone that Ford is in. Les Miles' comments on Ford not being in the doghouse and that he would play this week represent why I can't stand him. He's full of Shite!

there's a flank, split end, slot, etc. no shite. it's fricking commonplace to refer to all of them as your wide receivers. dear God, you people piss me off.
