Riser's team was lethargic
Only part of the post I disagree with, I think they were too pumped up and made it a bigger game than it was, then couldn't rise to that level. Two errors, misplayed ball in center, couldn't hit a lick outside of two bad pitches.
Rest of it is spot on.

So here you are, in class with your peers and everybody's watching you get searched, and thinking "wow whats he done?" But you haven't done anything. But still you've been accused of it in front of everyone. Would you be pissed off???Even though the teacher 'had a right to do it'.......???

There isn't a person on here who can explain to me how checking a hat for foreign substance is bush league.
He accused a kid of cheating and called him out on national tv.
Stopped the game to request something that is NEVER done
Bitched to CPM about Reynolds calling him a pussy when his own player in the dugout is going apeshit
Resorted to a tactic CPM has never seen in his 30+ years of coaching
Went to Tulane so its in his blood
Russ just struck out a guy and was getting in a groove

Hey, you get what you ask for..... Retarded choices get retarded results. Is it right? No. But I find it hard to fault Reynolds for lashing out.....in fact I liked it. Let him know

You guys are greatly over reacting to this. If the Coach argues that the pitcher balked should the pitcher curse him?

Are you saying that a baseball has never been doctored by a pitcher?

I understand your point here.

I have seen umpires search pitchers before.

Balking isnt cheating. Totally different situations. Try again.

This isnt the MLB

PM hasnt, at least not at college level and requested bythe opposing coach.... Guess youve seen more baseball than PM. Congrats

Balk could be a screw up, mistake, unintentional.
Doctoring the ball with a foreign substance is planned and is much much worse than your example.

Im saying you never see another coach make the accusation that riser did. Name the last time you remember this happening in college.

Was it at the request of the coach?

The bottom line is this:
If you want to defend Riser, that's fine, the game was well in hand and almost over, but it's fine. He does have the right to do that. In a game that mattered (like post season) and was close, I'd be fine with PM doing this if he really thought it was something.
But if you're actually not equally defending RR, you're insane. He was equally well within his right to respond to his integrity being called out in front of thousands. The fact that pitchers elsewhere have done this before (cheated) is COMPLETELY irrelevant to how a non cheater reacts to being called one. So easy for at homers to claimed they wouldn't have handled it that way. We get it, you're better than all us normal people.

You're right 'pique. Any player who has "rabbit ears" while out on the field is going to be the target pf the bench jockeys and coaches. Reynolds needs to block our the BS and concentrate on what he's doing. Hell, I played with some guys who were almost professional about pissing opposing players off. That's part of the game, most players know you can't let the the other team's bench get in your head.

quote:Eh. It can be. Some coaches teach a "balk" move as one of the pickoff moves to use.
Balking isnt cheating
quote:It definitely can happen in college. Just not often and no one cares because it does so little for pitchers with much less command.

He responded by walking the next batter and being taken out of the game.

To be fair, good chance he walks him anyway.

Correct. And I'm not saying RR was in 'the right'...... just saying I totally understand the reaction. And PM did too because when Riser ran to tell on RR like a child, PM told him "well.....he's pissed off....."
PM knew RR took it personally and I dont blame him
