It’s voodoo Chile which Hendrix released and turned into voodoo child (slight return). Don’t thank me for the knowledge I didn’t know either.

Jimi Hendrix's song was voodoo child: Lyrics follow:

Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well, I stand up next to a mountain
Chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well, I pick up all the pieces and make an island
Might even raise just a little sand
'Cause I'm a voodoo child
Lord knows I'm a voodoo child

There are only 2 versions, in my view, of voodoo child, the Hendrix version and the one by Stevie Ray Vaughn. I once saw Stevie Ray sing it on one of the Riverboats in New Orleans for Jazz in 1988 as the opening act for BB King. One hell of show.

Stevie Ray's voodoo child from Austin City Limits performed live can be seen on youtube.

Said this since the Ali movie with Will Smith and now that the NFL uses it in their new commercial I’ll reinforce it.

They should play the drum cadence with “ the champ is here” while only showing the team come out of the locker into the tunnel, then transition that into some badass song while they come out the tunnel.

Just listened for the first time and that song would not hype up a crowd.

Voodoo child, great song, but no, not a Tiger Stadium into song. CCR's Born of the Bayou however, I would disagree with. That one fits the bill in my view.

Tom Petty’s “Won’t back down,” just for lulz.

This is what I meant when I asked which version of the song it would be. Personally I favor SRV’s version.
