I didn't read the whole thread, and some of what Rudy says is right, but his most important comment wasn't bolded in the original post.
If they had done that we're not sitting here talking about it today. It's that simple.

Times change Rudy...everybody knows everything nowadays. Political correctness.
And regardless the common street ethics, high profile athletes are going to be held to a higher standard, just for the University's honor and namesake.
And it's on thing for some pudgy and slobbering bar rat to stomp on somebody's head...but quite another for a top tier physically conditioned thorough-bread to do so. If you've got a black belt, and do a front kick and trash somebody's knee, you can expect to be criminally charged and liable in civil court. Neck stomp...Jefferson is lucky that dude didn't go comatose.
Bottom line...if Jefferson et al, want to play in the big show, then they have to discipline themselves accordingly. Street ethics nws. This episode will bring that home to a lot of the nation's elite collegiate studs.
Sad for the guy though. Tragic for us all. Live and learn...at a cost.

Ah, Dandy Don's nutsucker returns. Sorry that you find kicking a person multiple times while they are in the fetal position justified.
Cause you know exactly what happened that night.

Haha awesome argument! You win the prize for worse debate ever!

How do you know it was a player doing the kicking in the video? I have watched that video and you can't tell shite from it.
Unfortunately, you don't have to know who it was in order to press charges. The video only confirms a small part of the alleged "victim's" story. The rest will have to be proved or disproved in court.

Man Code and Bar Fights...
From what I saw on the film, Jefferson was not in a bar fight. He sucker kicked a dude on the pavement.
From eyewitness accounts of the fight, Jefferson was not in the bar fight. He stayed out of the fight until it was well decided, and kicked a punch drunk dude- twice. (Allegedly)
Everyone that went to LSU, have parents that went to LSU, have friends that went to LSU know about bar fights. Once upon a time you could set your watch to fights in the Fred's / Sports Parking Lot. So, times do not change. Technology has though and accountability.
Bottom Line: Where is Jefferson's Respect for his teammates? Number 4 in the Nation, playing Number 3, and you choose to kick a guy in the face...after the fact. Jefferson wasn't even defending himself, his teammates, or a girl. Sorry, but I will not be an apologist for someone that put himself in this position.

You have the "sand" because you've very obviously not been in the situation Macklin describes. Trained policemen let temper get the best of them in scenarios like this. For the most part reaction is "the perp had it coming." That's because for the most part, the entire event is documented; not just the Rodney King ending.
The way the BRPD has handled this situation is deplorable. Putting forward a female-assaulting punk, a little weasel who picked a fight and lost, as a "victim" is an abomination of truth. Not at least filing coincident charges against him in the matter is stupid beyond words.
For that matter you, and everyone else claiming to know something conclusively from the video are ridiculous. You have no idea what preceded the clip. You have no way of knowing what's occurring there. Could be exactly as you describe it. Could be people not even related to LSU in that clip. No way for you to know that. Certainly no way to know that to the extent it justifies making the conclusive accusations you've issued against Jefferson. Folks claim the "victim" was kicked while unconscious? Yet the "victim" himself describes exactly what happened to him precisely at the time he supposedly was unconscious.
This sniveling so-called "victim" has an apparent history of similar punk conduct.
Does JJ?
Had the police looked at this for what it is; had they told the "victim" he had every right to press charges but if he did he would have to be charged, where would this BS be right now?
Had the BRPD explained to Lowery that since he started the fight, since he was clearly guilty of assault, disturbing the peace, etc. charges would have to be filed against him as well, there is not a chance in the world we'd be at this point.
In fact the BRPD Police Chief, incompetent buffoon that he apparently is, went the complete opposite direction. He and his department coddled the sniveling punk. They played him up as a victim. They cozied right up next to him, stroked his bruised crew-cut head, and said "don't worry sugarmuffin, we'll throw the book at the horrible people who did this to you." That is not justice. It's buffoonery. It's biased, and it's wrong. It's wrong whether JJ is guilty or not.
In a nutshell, your not recognizing the above, and acknowledging that by-all-accounts a pretty good kid, JJ, may have been done a significant disservice, is I'm sure a nidus for the previous "sand" comment.

Don't get it twisted, Rudy.
The fans never threw a punch or swung a boot in the brawl. Last I looked, rooting for a backup QB on message boards has never in the history of message boards got a starter arrested for felony battery.
However, a guy I know got in a bar fight, kicked the guy in the face, fractured the guys cheekbone, got arrested, and later settled out of court with the victim. Why should JJ get special treatment if he did allegedly did something similar?

I agree with Rudy's take but.....
what the fans WANT has nothing to do with this. The police arrested someone. some yahoo wanting players to not play had nothing to do with this

Some insane marine comes swinging, gets his arse kicked and now it is our players' fault.
No jury is going to convict on these charges.

Love Rudy, but some of that shite is just stupid. "Man Code"? WTF? There is a difference between fighting back and kicking a guy that is down multiple times. I am tired of people trying to defend and excuse utterly pathetic behavior. Sad that a former Tiger is trying to turn this into people using this to get the QB they want in the game. Pathetic Rudy. Just pathetic

In all of this stupid incident what bothers me the most is how Bobby Hebert can say on a Atlanta Radio station on Tuesday JJ will never play a another snap at LSU. Thiers more to this story then we will ever know.Don't the University have spies that follow these players and report back to maybe Miles are someone higher up?
In fairness to Bobby Hebert, I think he was basing his statement on the statement of Jefferson's attorney who said this incident may not be resolved until sometimes in 2012.

Taxpayer dollars at work guys...why solve a murder in North BR when we can solve a fight in Tigerland?
