That's what I was going to post. That would be one thing we have in our favor, job security.

Is this a head coaching job?

Good chance he doesn't accept this IMO. If LSU is prepared to pony up, he will make more here. Also an assistant Coach position at Memphis isn't nearly as appealing as a head coaching gig somewhere. Honestly I'd say LSU is moving up and Memphis is moving down in terms of job prestige right now. I'd like to see him stay at least through the upcoming season.

He left Georgetown to come to LSU. Im thinking his only reason he accepts this is that he want to head back home.

I just hope that we can exercise all efforts to keep him. He'll be a big part of whether LSU is able to sustain its recruiting momentum or let this year be an anomaly.

Would have to think this is a good thing for us.....

For less money I would imagine. Not many people do this.

I'm sure there's some people at Memphis who want Pastner to finally win a game that he's not favored in but I don't think his firing is on the table unless they tank in whatever conference they're in now.

Assistant coaching basketball is the biggest clusterfrick known to sports.
There is a difference it is often called who is "
1st Chair" "2nd Chair" and so on. There is a relatively big difference in money from the 1st chair to the Director of Basketball operations who is an assistant coach. Asst. coaches are constantly moving looking for better gigs looking to get a head job. Guys move from head coaches in D2 to assistants in D1.
Should really applaud CJJ on his staff and keeping them together.

Yes, Pastner is on the hot seat, he has one of the Top-5 recruiting areas and seemingly they have underachieved.

It will be very disappointing if LSU doesn't match or exceed their offer. Pastner's performance has been lackluster, but I wouldn't say he's on the hotseat.

I'll post here what I posted in the recruiting board thread.

Since Bubba and Rossetta are the only two guys that bother to cover LSU basketball quickly...

quote:

LSU losing Robert Kirby to Memphis is bad, but he has underwhelmed in recruiting. His signature signee: Corban Collins, who is transferring.

Glynn Cyprien (A&M) will likely get a call from LSU, along with Mike Sanders (Utah Jazz), a former high school teammate of Johnny Jones

Other possible candidates: former LSU players Randy Livingston (former D-League head coach) & Chico Potts (current Miss. Valley head coach)

All from Bubba's twitter.

Not my words, his. Apparently, the only recruit we got that Kirby was the lead on was Corban Collins and he's transferring.

Need more than a year to truly judge someone on this though.
