Mendoza was hitting .319.

If we didn't want to give up a home run, then yeah, we should've walked him, but a base hit won that game, and of the two, there was more of a chance that Martin got it.

Now, if you want to be mad at Paul defending a decision, it should be him saying he agreed with Watson trying to take second. That was such a dumb move. We went from Beloso needing to just hit a fly ball to Beloso needing a basehit.

And Mendoza has like 69 strikeouts. The guy on deck doesn’t strikeout that much. Garza missing that fastball hurt us a lot honestly

He’s a freshman. He was hitting .250 in the postseason.

He WASNT drafted in the 3rd round of the MLB draft for his bat.

Fontenot looked like shite in the postseason before tonight.

What's your point?

But why pitch to him with Devin instead of a new pitcher? Kid was gassed & Pawl stretched him way further than he should have.

Not another pitch to their best hitter because they have a freshman on deck hitting 320 thread.

Walk the guy, it was an obvious decision to make. No justification at all to pitch to Mendoza.

You walk him to create the force at 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

What’s Mendoza and Martin’s post season numbers? I’ll help, Mendoza was over .400 and Martin under .300
Mendoza is a second round draftee, Martin is a freshman.
Come on, man.

Garza fricked us royally on that and on not being able to complete that double play in the third. He cost us 3 of their 5 runs.

1. Martin makes more outs than Mendoza.
2. Mendoza makes more hard contact than Martin.
3. Martin is a freshman while Mendoza is an upperclassman.
4. Walking Mendoza sets up a force play at 3 bases whereas you only have 1 play with Mendoza batting.

Just stop Dude. Mainieri knows he is wrong about pitching to their best hitter. 1st base was open. It's 2 outs. It's an easy no call but he's hard headed just like Leslie Miles was and his hard head will eventually cost him his job too. End of story.

Garza was a liability today. I’m not attacking him, but the guy had a bad game.

Mendoza in conference 304

Martin in conference 280

So in summary, we were scared of a 250 post season hitter because he feasted on mid week pitchers.

So many people being exposed tonight that have never played an inning of baseball. Winning run on second with first open, right on left matchup with a righty on deck, great postseason/experienced hitter at the plate, and walking the guy gives you a force out at 3 bases. Not that fricking hard people...
