Not only did Mett play a solid game, but I liked what I saw from Stephen. The one play that looked sloppy resulted in a pass interference that saved a big gainer. It's nice to see that we will have a competent backup.

Yeah he's amazing at handing off.

I think he threw maybe one pass that didn't even count.

Didn't the drive he lead result in a TD?

I wouldn't have minded him getting some more snaps while Mett was shaking off the cobwebs from that brutal hit to the head.

He looked poised and in control when he was in. That's comforting.

The most popular guy in BR will always be the backup QB.

1 game in and we already had to play the back up. This is why qb recruiting is important. LSU rarely makes it a whole season with just 1 qb.

They didn't let him do much, but he looked composed and in control. They will bring him along slowly. Kinda like Mett, I'm glad the coaching staff is conservative in that way.

I liked Rivers decision making on this play. Play was busted but he still correctly predicted where the receiver would be. Would have gone for 15 or 20 yards if no PI. it's the kind of play his brother would have made.

I'm not knocking the guy at all. We already run a pretty low risk high reward offense if u will so why everytime the backup comes in coaches don't let them throw it. To me games like these are the absolute best time to get an extremely inexperienced QB some quality game reps which should be more than just handing off imo.

I would like to have seen Rivers throw it as well, but i can see coaches point, if the running game is working so well why throw it. but playing devils advocate with game victory in hand let QB take a shot and get some game experience passing.
At least then we would know if we have a back up who could step in and run balanced attack or just guy who can handoff to the running backs. Better to tune up a QB now than be forced too against and SEC opponet. Ok i am ready to take the flak for having said it.

Mett needed more meaningful snaps last year and should've thrown more passes. That was a mistake.

Yeah, let that poor bastard throw a pick six and go to winning 34-21 Miles would have to hide his family. I THINK our fans are still ok, but the folks on this board are absolutely nuts.

well, since nobody on this board is earning $4M a season for his opinion about how to bring along a young qb, I stand by mine!
HAPPY LABOR DAY frickERS!
