Poor judgment by everyone involved. Why was he even there when I guarantee coaches have told all the players where not to go? Why was he talking shite and fighting with 4-5 guys? Why was he fighting at all when he had to know Wade would have booted him from team if he got arrested? Horrible he passed away, but sometimes you have to use judgment. Hopefully other young folks use this as a learning experience and an example of what not to do.

Any video of the press conference?
I think WAFB showed it live. I listened to it on the radio on 104.5 and they cut it off after about 10 minutes. I don't know how much we missed after they cut it off.
Wade made a comment that made it sound like a lot of other coaches from other sports were present.
They weren't talking at all about the circumstances surrounding the incident...just about the impact on the rest of the team and on LSU athletics in general.
The team met at 6:30 this morning for a scheduled workout and began the grieving process. Counselors were already available at practice.
It was hard to listen to it. I don't think I want to go back and see it. Wade was very emotional. It sounded like it was all he could do to keep himself composed.
And Alleva is a frequent whipping boy on this site, and deservedly so for a lot of it, but remember that he is a human being with human feelings, also. He sounded distraught. He said that he knew Wayde well and talked to him often. He said it was "the saddest day I have ever had in 40 years" working in athletics.
This is going to be very hard for a lot of people within athletics.

Started as a fight, the guy just open fired in his chest
This is the main reason why I teach my son to just walk away from a potential fight. If no one is physically attacking him, just walk away. Yeah, he might get called names, but at least he'll be alive at the end of the day. People don't fight anymore, they run and grab or pull out guns and kill. It's just not worth losing your life over. Just walk away. Y'all might not agree, but that's what I preach to my kids.

This ranks up there on bad days as a tiger. Don Redden sprung to mind but this is not natural
This is closer to Wally than Redden. You can't really compare any of them, though, except that they all suck.

He'll be Will Wayde this year.

I actually think it was the white shirt guy with the black pants who shot him. If you watch the video right before Wayde gets shot you can see white shirt grabbing under his shirt for something and then a second later you hear the shot. Also notice there was no recoil from Wayde. If the guy Wayde was facing pulled out the gun I expect you would have seen him jump back or try to run or something. Either way hope the police can sort this out and bring some justice to this situation.

30 years later I can tell you the exact spot I was when I heard the news of Don's sudden passing.
Senior in high school. Wasn't in school that morning because I was driving to an eye doctor appointment at 9:30am. The DJ on WFMF announced that Redden had passed the night before, then he played "Back in the High Life" by Steve Winwood. I pulled into a random parking lot on South Sherwood Forest Blvd. and cried for a few minutes, then went about my day.
So yes, things like this stay with you for a long time.
Sadly, today will be another one of those days for a lot of people.
Wade said in his press conference that he told the players this morning that they will never forget this day. It will be with them forever. He is right.

Nope, this makes total sense. It's tough to do but you never know when some idiot will take things to the next level.

Ok...good. It really didn't need to go on any longer. Wade spoke about Wayde, Alleva made a few comments, they made it pretty clear that they weren't going to comment on the circumstances, and that was about all that needed to be done.

Just focus on the right hand of the thug in the white cap at the very beginning. You can even see the reflection of the gun for a split second.
No way you can tell if that's a gun or not.

Sad news.
I’ve watched it ten times and I can’t tell who shot.
shite quality video.

It’s a sad and cloudy day. It will be difficult not thinking about this at work.

Much clearer video...should be easy for police to identify a few of them and go from there.
