Smitty55, I am from Rayville as well. I know how you feel about Murphy. I hope he shines this year. Let the hater's hate because if they think Ford is going to get much playing time this year then they are delusional as it gets.

Wow, Ford had a great spring game. Murphy also had a great one last year. Unfortunately, he was injured. Some of these retards that claim there were two better runnings backs ahead of him.
How well did Scott do, and how well was Keiland.
It was nothing spectacular if you ask me. Also, Keiland deserved more carries than he got, unfortunately our staff has gone to shite.

I'm a big Ridley fan, but I was disappointed in that he did not shine last year. He did ok. If nothing is going well on the offense, a great back will make something happen. He didn't do it. With the seniority issue, Murphy and Ridley will be the go to guys. If not Ford will get his chance. There is a 1 % chance that Ware will not be red shirted ( the exception would be injuries, poor performances and a team that could win the SEC.) I think that Ford will be a deer in the headlights his first year in the SEC. Dancing around doesn't work unless your Fred Astaire.

I mean it doesnt make since. How do u put down someone who hasent had n oppurtunity to shine 4 someone who hasnt had an oppurtunity 2 shine. Thats what i dont get. And if u havent at least played in a SEC football, ur gonna get killed. If the put ford or ware out there and the o line misses a block vs alabama their gonna leave in body bags. U got put ur most experienced backs out there and thats Murphy and Ridley.

Did you ever hear of Dalton Hilliard or Kevin Faulk or Marshall Faulk? Running back is a position that does not require a lot of time to develope. Most really good running backs start as freshman or at least get a lot of carries. Spencer Ware could be the man. Or Ford, he looked very good in the spring game. Contrary to what some believe, LSU has had only average running backs over the past few years.

HUH?? So FORD can't handle a big hit but Murphy can?

Murphy 6'1" 204lbs
Ford 5'10" 207

Your argument makes no "since" (sic) Ford has had a year to practice against LSU's #1 defense and judging from the Spring game he doesn't shy away from contact.

Marshall did not play for LSu dude. Kevin Faulk is the one exception. And i dont remember hilliard being a top back in the SEC. And The SEC is way tougher now then when Hilliard played.

What i was sayin was, Neither player had an oppurtunity to shine by themselves, so what makes ford more worthy. And as i keep saying, LSU defense looks suspect. U cant tell how someone does until they play against someone else

When has Murphy shown the ability to be a homerun hitter?
When he plays against walk-ons in the Spring Game he is a clone of Gale Sayers linked with Barry Sanders and Earl Campbell.

Not much of a memory on ya', then. Dalton was a beast as a true freshman on out. Helluva running back.

To compare any freshman to the Faulk boys or Hillard (or Gary James or Terry Robiske to add to the list) is a joke. These guys were NFL class players and two were studs on Sunday. The odds are against Ford to shine his red-shirt freshman year. He had a freshman year that not only raised some worries on the practice field, but also in the classroom. The summer that Hillard showed up at LSU (then some of the freshman did not start school in January and miss the last half of their senior HS year) Jerry Stovall said that he had a freshman that would surprise many. He wasn't talking about Gary James (who was all #1 on that year's HS recruits) but a short under rated kid that everyone was talking about mid season. Hillard impressed evryone..immediately. Not so with Ford. He'll be good, unlikely a Hillard-quality back.

FWIW, a Freshman QB (Renner) led the White Team to a 17-0 victory over a defense led by "future #1 draft picks" Quan Sturdivant, Robert Quinn and Deunta Williams. But to be fair, the teams were split and it wasn't 1's against 2's.

Yeah, like 15 a game would be my guess. Ford will lead the team in rushing IMO.
