My opinion only. Definitely wanna start the conversation.
I believe our best chance to have a similar offensive attack is by Rickie winning the QB job.

Nuss is a fine QB great arm and moxie.
Will be a good pro.
I think Rickie’s athletic ability paired with Sloan and Denbrock could be something special.

First downvote
Unless Rickie has significantly improved since HS.. he will not be ready as a passer by next season

So Nuss will be a good pro but in your opinion should never start at LSU?

Too soon, baw. Backup QB threads are not to be disseminated until after the spring game. Or at least not until after the bowl game.

No offense but I can tell you’ve never seen Collins. 1. He’s not a tremendous runner. 2. He’s very bad, barring injury or significant improvements he’ll never start at LSU

Ok.

Now account for the adjustments necessary going from high school to SEC.

He’ll learn from Nuss. Be patient.

Collins was a massive reach in 2023. He needs a lot of developing as a passer. Sloan can do it, but more like 2025 or 2026.

I guarantee the only thing OP has ever done is SEEN the color of his skin.

Yea I don't think it will be Collins over Nuss...like someone else said I expect his passing just simply isn't advanced enough for that.

I do expect to be in on some mobile QB transfer targets especially if there are any elite ones out there.

I mean losing what Jaden brings to the game from a running perspective is just a HUGE blow.

I wouldn’t call him a reach. He was a depth/development prospect who should be willing to stick around for at least 2-3 years. We need depth at QB and he gives us some.

We never had a real shot at a big time QB until 24 or 25 (especially before Howard transferred). The staff probably felt like Daniels would stay for another season at the time, and then Nuss didn’t leave. Now you have at least two years to see what you have with him. Then you have Hurley coming in and hopefully Underwood lined up after that.

It’s good to have a guy with Collins’ level of athleticism just to see if they can grow into something. I don’t expect him to ever start here, but you never know how things will work out.

Honestly, I don't see him starting that many games here. With Colin Hurley coming in and the possibility of a 5-star QB in 2025.

But then again, I'm just a fan, I don't know anything.

I'm sure you meant Colin Hurley in your post. Point taken though, I would love for Collins to prove us wrong, but unless he gets a whole lot better we are going to be in big doo-doo if Collins is ever the starter at LSU.

So you feel we have an NFL caliber QB on our roster but we should go with the other guy?

I be watched a lot of tape on Collins. Love his ball placement and velocity.
He definitely has a hitch that he’s going to have to get rid of to get the ball out quicker .

He showed well in the elite 11. Our line should allow for him to blossom this spring.

He’s a multi sport guy. Which bodes well for him. Most talent evaluators love QBs who played baseball and basketball in highschool.

True freshmen can only start at Alabama. LSU just doesn’t have the coaching. He may get a shot his Junior year though.
