Congrats to new School Record Holder Uriah Alexander - 370 Lb. Power Clean! Derrius Guice & KJ Wilson - 350 lbs! Go Bears!

I can't believe we've had two pages of debate on a 185 lb man
he's listed at 204 on the roster. Still damn impressive for a DB, but Rickey Jefferon is a pretty big man

I said everyone could walk up to the bar meaning the barbell. Not the drunks hanging out around tiger land.
I have no idea how this is going to go. But I will definitely film it. Actually looking forward to it. If I paralyze myself just trying to deadlift it then I will be back to admit I was wrong

Keep in mind, Catholic BR works extensively with Gayle Hatch... not typical high school numbers by a long shot

I was in the unimpressed camp until I read the 6 page shite fest. My senior year of high school I was 185 and could power clean 250+. I was not the strongest kid on the team by any stretch so I would have assumed a college junior in a major D1 program could lift 315......or at least it wouldn't have blown me away as shocking.

250 and 315 is night and fricking day. Like its not even in the same stratosphere
not to mention this is a power clean, not a squat clean. he can prob do 20-30 more lbs with a squat

Every starting safety in the SEC should be able to do 315.
The NFL combine says no. Every year you see DB's and WR's (except ours, thank you Coach Moffitt!) struggle to get more than a few reps with 225.
Cleaning 315 and benching 315 are not related at all.

Right but we are talking about elite athletes in an elite performance program. Not taking anything away from Jefferson, I was just surprised to see so many people going nuts about this.
If he can roll under a 350 lb squat clean then he definitely is an animal and I'll completely back off of my original stance because those other guys are right about the two types of clean styles

Not really.

As someone who has at one time in their life achieved those lifts, I know it's not beyond the scope of closing that gap in three years. Not if you are training year round. Sorry but it's not night and fricking day after spending 3 years in a D1 strength program.

There are probably less than a dozen college ball players that can clean 350+ and I doubt any of them are defensive backs.
This may be the most stupid thing I have ever seen here... Seriously.

Yeah I don't think people realize how hard it is to pick 350 lbs up and throw it above your shoulders.
That's a snatch

Yeah no way RJ is 185.

That's not very impressive to me, bu that might be because I went to catholic and we were practicing cleans before our first class freshman year. You should clean the same as your bench if not more

Throwing up? Disgusting

I'm 6' 180lbs, and I'm impressed by Rickey

well the original thread was mis titled, as it said that Kevin toliver was the player in the video.
and yes for a 205lb elite college athlete, it's probably not elite of the elite. But people downplaying it by using what they did in high school or acting like any normal person can do this is insane.

I'm not down playing anything. I know how long it takes (roughly) to progress. The kid is 3-4 years removed from high school, of course I'm going to use it as a reference point. He has spent the last three years of his life in a major college football strength program.
Let's be honest, the reason we are impressed has more to do with his position than the feat itself. I think the days of certain athletes at certain positions not fully committing in the weight room is over. It may take a little longer for our perceptions to catch up to the reality though.
