you're a little bigger than the average person. You've also worked out some. You've obviously done this before, you have a weight belt, a very nice power lifting floor, and have better form than someone who just stepped in a gym.

What's your weight at?

Also, that's a pretty nice gym you've got at your disposal.

But, I work with people all the time. Your average 25 year old male would struggle hang cleaning (not power cleaning) 135 pounds.

Dude did you do all of this just so you could post a video of you lifting? That is so sad. Look man I will say it, you are strong. Feel better now? You are still out of touch with reality though

I am a high school football coach. My original argument was that most guys can do it because every upperclassman in our program can do 250. I showed a lifting video and was corrected t that most of our kids are actually squat cleaning. That's where my activity in this thread stemmed from.

I'm 6'2 225 so I'm not small. But I'm not in shape and haven't lifted since college. I'm 31 now

You guys should waltz into the state championship if that's the case

Yeah, I've amended the above statement some.

So yes, you're average upper classman athlete in high may be able to hit 250 at a squat clean. But not your average person. However, I will say I find it hard to believe all of your upper classmen hit 250. That's a lot of weight for someone under 5'10"/170lbs.

Go to a gym and sample 15 men who walk in. They will struggle hang cleaning at 135 and you may feel as if some will snap their back.

you also need to remember that you're 6'2" and 225. Much harder when you're shorter and 170.

I've been honest about everything I said. I didn't know I was going to do 275. I surprised myself but I'm not here to look cool. I made a statement, got called out on it and I said i would try to prove my argument.

We average 3 wins a year and are always the smaller team on the field. We focus a lot on clean but I'm not a s&c guy so idk what guys at other schools or in college clean. I've assumed everyone does what our kids do or more. Shows my ignorance on the subject

I'm not a HS S/C coach but I would guess your average HS player can power clean around 200, maybe a lot less. That's with actual power lifting equipment and floors. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

Again, this is an average American high school athlete. Not your cream of the crop or your bottom tier kids.

This sounds right. Most guys explode in their true freshman years getting into the college S&C program.

I started off at 135. Wasn't sure how it was going to go but was really easy. Went to 165, 185, 205, 225, 250, 265, 275 and dropped 285. It started to get pretty tough at 250.

I've lifted before but not for a long time. I bet I couldn't bench 200 right now

I said 250-350 on high school clean. 350 being the most and 250 being the least. Definitely not possible for every 18 year old to clean 350, but I would think most grown men could walk up to a bar and clean 250 pretty comfortably

I played college football and own multiple gyms. So I'm pretty confident when I say that most grown men can't bench, squat, or deadlift 250 lbs, much less be able to clean. 250.

Nice work on the cleans and coming through with the video

Your team may suck, but based on the first video, they are very well coached in the weight room. And very nice high school facilities (by LA standards- probably the norm in TX)

Your program is NOT the average bear. Be proud of that versus making your peers your equals.

The average grown man cannot clean 185.

What do you think Chad was cleaning? I have always been the forgotten cousin, comparing a QB to a tennis player. But I have always hoped and thought I was stronger. He just got the damn height

Couldn't remember to save my life. Boo Boo was likely the strongest power cleaner of that group at 375-385. Of course andolsek years before that held the record at 445 for a long time. Big E was insane....saw him fricking rep 405 and it was staggeringly easy.
