I wonder how many people bitching about fans leaving early actually attended the game and sat through the whole thing.

I did, holding down the fort in the NEZ, along with three young kids who also stayed to the end. They would never think about leaving either.

Are we any different than other crowds when it comes to leaving early for blow outs? Comparing similar type games do we leave any earlier than say Ohio State fans who blew out their game this weekend?

I don't want to be like Ohio St. fans and we were hardly in a blowout Saturday.

Dear Lord this is getting ridiculous. It looked like a blow out against an unranked opponent. Last year for USCe and Bama it was deafening until the end. When fans start leaving those games then we have a problem. It's not LSU's fault that Auburn sucks.

Here you go.

I'll go ahead and admit I left after the 4th down stop and before the victory formation. I didnt get wet or cold but of course I own real rain gear- not a $5 plastic sheet with 3 holes in it that stops above the waist.

So, what did rich folks do on Saturdays in BR/S. La. do before they were able to "price out" the "real fans" and make going to Tiger Stadium and staying for a half the upper crust thing du jure?
They scoffed at the LSU fans for giving a shite about a losing team. You're old enough to remember when it was like that. Hell, it was like that during Saban's first year, with losing to UAB as a big part of the ammo they used.

. I for one stayed and was soaked but I'm a lunatic and can't really blame those that left... especially people with wives and young kids they didn't want to get sick.

My 67 year old dad and my disabled wheel chair bound brother stayed the entire game. He said "we were already wet".

This goes beyond this one game and everyone knows it.

The crowd performance was mortifying. Sadly, this isn't an isolated incident. The same thing occurred during the MSU home game last season. Both embarrassing exoduses prompted sardonic comments from the ESPN announcers. Pathetic.

The decline of Tiger Stadium doesn't anger me so much as it depresses me. We were once the jewel of college football. And best of all, every single fan of LSU could contribute to the lore and glory of Death Valley with his/her passion and proud voice. We mere fans couldn't recruit, we couldn't execute on the field, we couldn't hire coaches, or will the team to championships, but by God, we could convert our love into noise and transform an old bowl of stained concrete into something shimmering and grand. It was our legacy. The fans' legacy.

Now that is largely gone. The old Tiger Stadium only emerges under ideal conditions: a game with national championship implications against a top ten foe at night with impeccable weather. Outside of those optimal circumstances, Tiger Stadium has become another run of the mill mixer for curious sports tourists and cocktail party dilettantes. Hell, we couldn't fill the stadium for three quarters when a top-ten ranked Tiger squad was facing an undefeated Wester Division rival.

I frankly don't know what the cause of the decline is, but I suspect it's just downright laziness. Sad.

I understand why people left, but fact is it looked very shitty on TV.

If LSU can make a campaign to get people wear the same shirt maybe they plus team an coaches could do something to encourage people to stick around.

Yeah it wasn't like this was a surprise rainstorm. It was in the forecast all week, but at least half the people were in crappy plastic ponchos if they had anything at all. If they were cold and wet it was their own fault.

I was at Zippys for kickoff and I can remember overhearing people say "I'm surprised by this long storm".

Did you happen to pick up a newspaper at all this week?

So what?

I'm willing to trade bandwagoning fans in exchange for the success we've been having.

If going back to that mythical era when Death Valley was a loud, feared place where every opponent trembled at the Tiger's roar and the crowd's noise and smell of bourbon intimidated our foes and magic happened mean going back to mediocre or even shitty seasons, all of you can have it. I'll stay put.
