“LSU documented several instances in 2017 when Gloria Scott contacted university officials to report that former star running back Derrius Guice had sexually harassed her, but the direction of their inquiry into Scott’s allegations changed after a man who represented her asked LSU to pay her.”

“But audio recordings, text messages and police reports obtained through public records requests show that Williams made an additional demand of sorts. He told Athletic Department officials that Scott would go public with her story if the university did not pay her $100,000 or withhold Guice from the Citrus Bowl”.

Lol you don't get to sue (and therefore demand money) the school if one of the students harasses another person. If the complaint wasn't properly reported, that's one thing, but I don't think that's what is being stated here.

I would make the same request if somebody did that to my grandma. Give me 100 grand or punish the guy appropriately.

LSU wasn’t willing to do the right thing after simple request by Miss Gloria so it makes total sense that someone around her would stick up for her by putting some pressure on the university.

The fact that it was not only money being demanded and that holding him out of the game was still going to be enough for them to be satisfied tells me that they really just wanted some kind of accountability.

Well well well
So money was the real reason she kept badgering LSU
pathetic
There is always two sides to the story and I bet some of these women also played a part in these other instances
This is not something athletic administrators are trained to handled

Things are starting to make a little more sense with this story.

So begging to pay someone so that they don't go to the media about it is just fine, but telling someone to either pay up or they go to the media is horrible?

Yeah, "sticking up for her" sure sounds a lot like extortion in this scenario.

Ain’t it funny how when the Advocate finds something that is pleasing to most on here, it’s taken as good journalism

But when the Advocate has reporting that doesn’t please many on here, it’s a “liberal fake news rag”

Good journalism by the Advocate to get more info on this story. Appreciate the local journalists doing their job

She didn't go to the police to report the incident. Instead, she sought out a handler to ask LSU for money. Even if you're telling the truth, it got lost in the way the issue was handled. This is not a Title IX issue in my opinion, it would be a civil complaint filed. Also, it didn't appear she wanted to involve a lawyer. Why not?

This is exactly what I thought was her motivation. Let’s see all the woke posters defend her now.
