Yeah we discussed this earlier and I agree. But if they hoped to create the impression that we were going after others, it really doesn't work when Jones is the recurring name for all intents and purposes, and waiting just makes it worse because we actually have time to process the decision and our other possible options.

Wonder what changed Alleva's position because this is a far cry from his other hires. Maybe he bought into the bullshite from them when TJ didn't win.

Maybe if this was football. But with this many "targets," and the preexisting relationship with Jones, and I'm not surprised they were able to keep it quiet.

Yeah. I'm not exactly sure what needs to be worked out. According to one poster, Jones makes around 300K at UNT. We could double his salary, and he'd probably crawl to Baton Rouge.
He could then start recruiting. NOW. He better lock this state up. I mean build a fence.

I hope you're right because I think basketball is predominately recruiting. If he can't, we are going to be in the same position we're in now because the powers that be wanted to make the good ole boy network strong again.
Unlike TJ though, Jones has zero wiggle room for error.

LSU probably began to search serious Thursday. Friday it was all comming out then by the weekend Trent was officially gone. now Almost Tuesday there still has been no real hints or leaks. They are either way behind or have something extremely close to the vest.

If we pay Jones more than a million dollars I've given up all hope.

Johnny Jones has been talked about from the beginning but nothing even remotely official. He'd be the easy hire here...since nothing has been leaked yet, makes me feel like Alleva is looking elsewhere first.
I think JJ is option #2 at this point.
