the problem with trent was that he was a terrible recruiter and a mediocre coach. can't win unless you're good at one of the two.

Drew is the hire. There's no reason to not throw this guy the money unless you don't want to try and win in Basketball.
With the recruits he would bring with him, we would probably be tournament bound his first year.
Not hiring Drew says that the Athletic Program isn't trying to make Men's Basketball a priority, imo.

I keep hearing its gonna be Jones with Livingston as his assistant but it seems like they'd go ahead and pull the trigger on it seeing as signing day is in less than 48 hours

I'll continue the conspiracy theories. We have gathers, but instead of having Drew know our intentions, we stay mum, get him to sign, and then boom with the announcement.

Jones/Livingston hooked up Gathers to dog out Trent to piss the fanbase off even more thus running Trent out of town quicker so Jones could become head coach here

Collis was the vocal guy pushing TJ out with negative public perception.

as much as i like randy livingston i will be fricking sick if we dont even try to get drew.
also it will show who is running the show at LSU if we hire jones without going after some big guns first.
I hope alleva is stronger than i think he is and can make the correct hire instead of being run over by dale and collis

if drew pulls his name out it would be a pretty good indicator we might have tried at him. plus you usually get rumors of offers and things.

Let's be honest, even if we hired him, do you trust that dude? He would crush it here but he's shady as hell. And I could see him making something up to help him gain a competitive advantage on the recruiting front.

yea i trust him and being shady is just part of basketball. we saw the results of nonshady dealings in basketball and it wasn't pretty. Id rather push the line and take a few slaps on the wrist than deal with more trent johnson type coaches

I'm not saying I wouldn't take him in a heartbeat. I'm saying that even if we never went after him, I have no doubt that he would be the type of guy that would lie about it to land a future LA recruit.

if drew came to LSU how many recruits would follow? does anyone know? my friend lost to Isaiah Austins team in the playoffs by 25 and he said he's every bit the real deal and will do very well at the next level...
