Here we go. My man, finally you're inclusion of the military and your experience on a sports discussion board is relevant. Thank you for your service and thank you for all of those that have more balls than I have that have made the ultimate sacrifice so that we can call each other names on the internet.
My grandfather served in WW1 and my father served in the Air Force as well. Both are gone now, but both were lucky enough to come home to their loved ones. I hope those serving now just are as lucky.

Speaking as a vet, we have a day later in the year. Memorial Day is for our fallen heroes that paid for our freedom with their lives. I would include wounded vets also, but guys like me - we deserve no recognition on this day of honor.

Thinking specifically of Nam vets today . How terribly ironic to be born at the best possible time in American history to be young and have some money in your pocket, and then have that awful war dropped in your lap . Those of us with Vietnamese family, especially, thank all of you, and especially those who died.
Also thinking about Captain Art Bonifas, 1966 West Point grad, and 1st Lt Mark Barrett, murdered savagely by the North Koreans in 1976 . May we soon have peace .

Adajax thanks for your statement. I would like to echo what you said. Today is a day to remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice. For those that thank us on this day for our service is appreciated, but unnecessary. Nov. 11 is our day, and for us Marines, Nov 10 also. My only regret is I wish I could do it all over again. It was an honor and a privilege. Also I would like to mention MOH recipient Mike Claussen. Even though Mike didn't die in combat, he was a friend and a true American Hero. Anybody interested should Google his name, and read his story. Semper Fi Mike!
