Just a little reminder that payback is HELL uc-irvine!

Gotta say, been a while since I saw that & that has to be one of the WORST calls I have ever seen, the announcers were right, uc-irvine sold it & the ump, with his back to 2nd base, totally bought the BS. Another tidbit from that years regionals, ucla used the hidden ball trick v/s uva the day before. Is that what they call west coast ball? Either way, I bet our runners are on guard this time!

LeMahieu needed to keep his arse on the base until the pitcher got on the dirt.

In the umpire's head - "oh shite.... I didn't see what happened but the shortstop looks like he's about to dogpile. Better call him out."

the umpire needs to make calls HE ACTUALLY SEES and not take the word of a player once he turns around to see what is going on...

oh and your nuts are wanted on the chopping block since LSU is not hosting...

Because that wasn't a joke...

LeMahieu takes away any question if he's paying attention there.

I take it you mean if LeMahieu was on the bag the whole time till the pitcher takes the mound...

how can it take away any question when the umpire wasn't even looking at the play and had his back turned, so the ump had no idea if LeMahieu was on the bag the whole time or not, the ump just bought the act the UCI player was selling...

If LeMahieu never leaves the bag, Irvine never even tries the play.

The ump behind the plate would have seen LeMahieu on the bag the whole time. He wasn't able to make the call behind the plate when it happened because LeMahieu left the bag and it was a relatively close play and he was too far away to see if the foot was back.

If the ump is doing his job properly and paying attention on what is going on the field of play in his area he is suppose to call, even if he blows the call AT LEAST HE WAS PAYING ATTENTION...the whole incident boils down too HE WAS NOT LOOKING AT THE PLAY and made a call that he never should had...

he was too proud to just say "I was not looking so I can't make the call"

You can see where someone is standing 127 feet away.

I meant you are guessing that he would have been looking at second base instead of minding what's going on at home plate(his area) with the next batter coming to plate...

He was probably looking out at the pitcher wondering why the hell he was standing still behind the mound with LeMahieu off of 2nd base in his line of sight.
