Remarkable free throw shooting by LSU mens team

This team can make the NCAA tourney and actually win a few games because we are loaded with guards who don't turn the ball over and have a crazy free throw percentage. At the end of games if LSU has the lead, they should win because of their free throw shooting. Here are some stats....
Skylar Mays 85%
Edwards 84%
Onwuasor 81%
Waters 81%
Epps 79%
I can't remember an LSU team with this good of a shooting team from both the free throw line and the field. Duop Reath shoots 44% from three point line followed by Onwuasor at 42% and Edwards at 39%. Look for Edwards and Onwuasor to get even more playing time to close the season out. This team is peaking at the right time and is starting to jell. There is no telling how this season will end but one thing is for sure. It will be interesting.

It's been a long time since free throw shooting was not a nail biter. LSU has three tough games remaining but all are winnable. If we can finish 2-1 and win a couple in the SEC Tourney, I think this team deserves a dance card.

I would agree Adajax, depending of course on who it is we beat in the SEC tourney. Let's start today. Georgia is as desperate as we are, we'll need to bring it strong today.

Yeah, mentioned it to who I was sitting with at the last game... This is by far the best FT shooting team I can remember at LSU in quite some time

Free throws are about repetition for the most part and shooting a shite ton of them is the only way to find that rhythm that works for you. Practice makes perfect as they say. I don't think Jones even made them practice free throws from the statistics when he was here. It's mind boggling really how a college basketball team could be that collectively bad at shooting free throws. Wade actually coaches these things and that's why the team is so much better already. The more you look at it the more you realize just how bad of a coach Jones was. I mean for fricks sake, even high school coaches know your team needs to be competent from the free throw line to win games.
Wade has that attention to detail mentality that you need to be a high level coach and it's already shown itself in year one. Good to see someone finally get the basketball team back rolling in the right direction. I don't think anyone thought they would have a chance at making the tournament this year and with a few more wins they very well could make it in. They were picked last in the SEC repeatedly and there really wasn't anything to say that wouldn't be right, but Wade has taken these guys and turned them into a pretty damn good basketball team in a short period of time.
