Uncle Chicken, would it be possible for you, a proud member of the media elite, to inform the LSU administrators of the unsatisfactory(read "piss poor") performance of GEAUXzone. The video feeds are intermittent, and audio-only is not available during video feeds. It's the A/V equivalent of Toonces.

If the slackers in charge of running the Geauxzone would get off their collective asses and fix it, more of the 10's of thousands of rantards would pony up the fundage to pay for it. I am a former paying member and will no longer pay for such a poor quality product.

Maybe a petition thread would be appropriate. Maybe not. I do, however, fully believe that the all-world team of Chicken/Circus Child could be the catalyst that eases the pain of the iVideo-starved masses. Hell, I may even cease and desist the angry emails to GeauxZone Help advising them to kiss my fuzzy alumni butt.

this is capitalism gone bad.

but what's their competition if they deem all other broadcasts illegal?

put out a quality product, and then and ONLY then can you expect a monetary return from a customer.

put out a sub-par shitty product, and the fan/viewer/listener will eventually figure out a different way to get the information.

doesn't surprise me though. LSU is all about the money these days, not the fans.

fans don't mean shite to LSU, just their money.

doesn't hurt it near as bad as the suck-arse performance, coupled with zero customer service, of the Geaux Zone..

+1

Being stuck over here on the Left Coast in Hollyweird I really depended on those sites to see our Tigers. I agree with the lion share of posters here with the opinion that GZ stinks. None the less thanks for the explination Chicken.

The Geauxzone is a lifesaver here in Libya. Yeah, the service sucks, but it's still worth the price of a couple beers a month to listen to the Tigers.

Thank you. Case in point, in this thread, this post was marked unreadable.

The post was a link to Auburn radio affiliate WAAO.

Users posting links isn't illegal. Do you get money from LSU? If not, then screw 'em. You aren't rebroadcasting or duplicating the content in any way.
Myp2p.eu just won a case regarding this.

Why doesn't anyone at LSU care?

Personally, I think it should be free access. But a well-managed GZ would mean immense revenue. I'd pony up if it were reasonable and fully reliable.

Is this rule in effect for all illegal based streaming sites or only those broadcasting LSU games because only LSU has asked you to take action?

Will there be moderation of streaming sites on the More Sports Board for NBA/EPL/MLB games??

I understand capitalism, to an extent, but this is getting out of hand.

What's next - requiring me to swipe my credit card so WWL 870 will allow me to listen to a Basketball or Baseball game.

I assume someone will just have wing it alone with a link - and until the LSU gestapo does something about it - why not. I too live out of state and you would think all that damn tuition money over the years would have some fringe benefits.

The amount of GREED at LSU and other similar schools, is amazing.

* As a side note, I think the diehards here will NOT be drawn to the Geauxzone, as they at LSU SS central, might have hoped. If anything, I think there be a backlash to that miserable entity - I will never join - that is for sure. I never would have thought that free radio - linked for the joy of listeners - would now be assailed.

There is a communications showdown lawsuit just waiting to address this issue.

Ditto!!

Geaux Zone is worthless while running on offshore satellites. Biggest waste of money when I bought it 2 years ago. I cancelled the subscription because video wouldn't work and the audio was worthless. I can log into opponents feeds and get better quality if it's available.

What happened to "public" airways?
Most people want to know that the broadcast is reaching more people, putting on the internet is a win/win deal. I say Link ON!

Though they are quite slow to keep up with internet creativity, they are most certainly perusing sites like this one.

I don't know the arrangement Tigerdroppings has with LSU, but I would imagine its immensity and popularity has protected it this long. I am quite sure LSU would just love to have 100 percent total control on anything to do with fans discussing their sports.

Why stop there though LSU, why not just take over the copyrighted USE of the colors purple and gold, when used in conjunction, anywhere in the civilized world.

Guglielmo Marconi is spinning in his grave, as we speak.

Thanks for the explanation chicken. Makes sense.
Yes it does...and I appreciate you posting this, but I do not think that individuals should be singled out and made an example of (due to their "post count" or crap like that...I am pretty sure we have all posted something that is perhaps borderline "inappropriate" without the intent of breaking any laws or knowing where the line is drawn before doing so (I am not talking about porn or anything, just "borderline stuff). I mean, anyone can go to "google" and find most of the sites that I use, it is not hard to find them. Just sayin'. Anyway, thanks for the explanation.

EDIT: FWIW, I was a member of the geauxzone, but why should I spend the money for crappy streams when I can find much better ones for free? Maybe you can ask them to "upgrade" their streams and I would be glad to pay the $4.99 / mo. or whatever it was.

EDIT EDIT:If anyonone would like "more info", feel free to e-mail me at geaux_tigers_13@yahoo.com (if that is not illegal)

I also agree with this. Chicken, since you have decided to abide by what LSU has requested, I think you should report to them the large number of people on your site who have tried their product and found it unsatisfactory. In fact, people have found that amateurs posting feeds to p2p sites produce better results than Geaux Zone. That's truly a sad commentary. It's not fair of LSU to demand exclusive rights to sale their product, and then shackle consumers with poor quality that we have no choice but to pay for. That is one reason monopolies are illegal in this country. Thanks for your consideration.
