Aaron Nola, an all time great, pitched in the easiest pitching era in the last 40 years of the sport. Aaron Nola is an all star and 10 year big leaguer. What is the point of these dumbass comments?

That William Schmidt is over rated, he is incredibly mediocre

Every news publication saying he turned down millions of dollars bc he was going to be a first round pick out of highschool, which was the general consensus of everyone including people on this board and stated in this thread

But what did they over rate? He could have been a comp pick because he throws 98 and had a better spin rate on his breaking ball than any other pitcher in the draft.

None of that is incorrect.

William Schmidt got exponentially better year over year. I do not understand the point of shitting on him because he wasn't Aaron Nola out of the gate.

Aaron Nola played in a different era of bats and balls and didn’t face a bunch of teams made up only of 24 year old 5th year seniors with 200 games of college experience.

you're always making excuse to make it seem like you're right. This season is going like your thoughts.

Aaron Nola never had an era over 3.7 (as a freshman), William Schmidt is over rated as frick, which was the entire point of my post

the league average ERA in 2013, Nola's last year, was 3.34. the league average this year is 4.79. Nola pitched in a much more pitcher friendly era with dead bats and dead balls. trying to comapre ERAs across the two eras is fricking retarded. South Carolina led the SEC in HRs in 2013 with 52

That's not to say Schmidt has been comparable to Nola but you really need to stop with the stat comparing nonsense as if it's apples to apples

Kinda odd how do two of our starting pitchers this year were scratched minutes before their starts. Makes you wonder what is really going on with the staff and our coaches.

Only if you are a conspiracy obsessed retard.

Evans came back and pitched again after the injury that caused his late scratch. Last I checked, he was pretty good tonight.

He improved from 4.7 to 4.2 ERA, that is no way “exponentially better,” which is my whole point, he was touted as a first round pick who is very mediocre in year 2. Aaron Nola, who went to literally the same high school and college and was also drafted out of highschool, although much lower, went from a 3.6 ERA his freshman year to a 1.6 era his sophomore year, which is an actual exponential improvement from year 1 to 2

he pitched 2 innings in SEC play last year. he gave up 6 earned runs in those 2 innings. Almost all of his "stats" were in midweek games last year. he got absolutely shelled once league play started. Among starting SEC pitchers, he was 18th in ERA in SEC play. Not awesome but also worlds better than he was last year

So he improved by half a run per 9 innings this year when 42 of his 64 total innings pitched were against SEC competition. That is a large improvement.

Do you know what comps are? Their careers have literally taken the exact same path to Schmidt’s current time

Yes. And I know they’re based on actual traits not simply where someone was born or went to school.
