they did though, and we responded by blowing them up some more. late hits chop blocks, we responded. lsu finally didnt play like pussies like they did all season.

I think it is a chicken-shite thing to do if say Oklahoma does it in a 77-0 non conference regular season game blowout against NoBodyU.
But I see nothing wrong with an underdog in a bowl game doing it against a ranked team whose coach was openly wondering if you 'deserved to be on the same field with them.' While I have not seen that quote directly linked, I assume something like that got to Coach Miles.
PLUS - it was an excellent, well executed play - nice to know it is in your bag of tricks for the future.
Now if you criticize the decisison to throw long after the fake punt you would have a better arguement. I would have rather we just continue to eat clock and drive the ball downfield.
But the fake punt play itself? good call.

The way I see it, a big score over a ranked opponent is the only shot we have to make it into the final rankings.

it's not like it's impossible. GT scored 33 against UGA in the second half of their game and won.

We do need style points, so that our ranking is as high as possible when all bowl games have been played. Gotta start as high as possible next year. Makes it easier to get back to the big game.

You don't that maybe this was in response to GT's continuous chop blocks during the game, and the remarks Paul Johnson had made about they had hope to play a better quality opponent than LSU. I think it was unacceptable how all the GT fans, who obviously out numbered LSU fans, booed LSU as they came onto the field! Now they are boo hooing! The entire game, each time we were whooping their arse some more I was booing.....a sarcastic boo to their hick mentality.

they scored 26 in 1 quarter. anything is possible. why are you so upset about it? you people can find any damn thing to bitch about. we lose 5 games and you want Les fired and bitch about the players. we win and run a fake punt and Les is now classless. go find another "favorite" team.

This whole "style points" thing is complete bs in my opinion. Perhaps I'm a bit too old school but once an opponent is beaten play out the game and let it be done. There's no need to rub it in or humiliate the other team ESPECIALLY if you're simply pissed off about something the other coach said. It's an immature reaction as a coach to use that as motivation to run up the score against the other teams players.
As for recruiting I'd think that future recruits would be more impressed at seeing players further down on the depth chart getting valuable game experience in a bowl game blowout than running a fake punt that can only succeed because no one expects it from the winning team in a blowout. It's also a great reward for the guys that worked their tails off all year that didn't get playing time in closer games and losses.
