re: Reed would make a difference

Reed brought the ball up on many occasions when pressure was put on the PG. Didn't say he was the PG. I was pointing to his overall value to the team. It's more than just pts and rebounds. Might be over your head.

The thing about excuses is they’re infinite and don’t need actual reasoning so people who’ve decided they’re just going to excuse everything never feel the need to stop making them.
I WANT McMahon to succeed because I want LSU basketball to succeed. Hell, I was one of the (relatively) few in attendance on Tuesday and will be so in the future. It's not enjoyable to watch losing basketball, so if I wanted McMahon to fail, and by association LSU basketball to fail I wouldn't attend the games or argue with all of us knuckleheads on here. But at some point you have to look at all of the information/data over nearly 90 games now, both for LSU basketball and the sport as a whole, and start to interpret what you are seeing. That evidence shows its increasingly unlikely McMahon is ever going to have any significant degree of success at LSU...if any.
I will say this though. The refusal by some to attribute any degree of responsibility to the HC for what has been (to this point) 2.5 years of mostly losing basketball is bizarre relative to any other HC, in any sport, over the last 40+ years (at least). I can't recall another instance where this degree of losing has not only been tolerated by some, but shrugged off as it is not a problem. The only conclusion I can draw as to why this outlier is the case is because the ouster of the former HC was, itself, an outlier. Wade was the only HC in my lifetime who was let go despite being both very popular with the fanbase and winning. So I think you have some who feel almost like a motherly duty to protect their "runt" of the litter because everyone still fawns over the other, more success and well liked, pup. Deep down they know the results are bad. But they suppress that knowledge.

Dude shite the bed with CJ and Shaq!
The fact is CJ and Shaq played on one team together, Shaq’s freshman year. Shaq was a very raw player in 89-90. The team lost in the round of 32 to an also very stacked GaTech team that made the Final Four and lost to NC UNLV. No one was beating UNLV that season. Teams were absolutely loaded back then. Anyone is welcome to go check out those Ga Tech and UNLV rosters if they think I’m just blowing smoke.
Also, no one can say with any certainty what would have been had Randy not blown out his knee.

Even though Shaq still averaged 14 points 12 boards and 4 blocks a game!
Corey Chest is extremely raw.
Imagine LSU having a 14 point, 12 board, 4 block type freshman on this team!!!
Stanley Roberts was a prop 48, how Dale Brown didn't see to it that Stanley made the grades to stay on the team is beside me!

Thanks for ignoring everything else I said. I can see now it won’t matter what I say or valid argument I present, you’re typical of people today, you’ve cemented your opinion and God himself could tell you you’re wrong and you’d ignore him.

God himself?
You blame the last horrible 5 years on Dale Brown on one players injury.
It's a team sport and Randy and Ronnie literally didn't have much help on those horrible rosters.
1993-1994 LSU 11–16 5–11
1994–95 LSU 12–15 6–10
1995–96 LSU 12–17 4–12
1996–97 LSU 10–20 3–13 (conference record).
You had kids like Adam Walton on the LSU roster
On top of that Dale killed the first few years of the John Brady era.

I said stating that LSU should have fired Dale when Shaq declared for the NBA is a ridiculous thing to say.
And then you follow it up with “Dude shite the bed with CJ and Shaq!”. And when I say look who we lost to, you completely ignore it.
Who was NCAA freshman of the year and what team that beat us did he play for?

The constant excuses are tiresome. From the moment Reed went down I immediately said "well, there is the excuse needed to justify another year of this if it turns out to be a bad season."
Sadly I felt the same way. I thought to myself about how people would put an asterisk next to this year and that there would be another excuse for us being a bad team.

The reason the post wasn’t addressed to you is because I didn’t care to see your fairytales.

I didn't ignore who they lost to in the first round of the tourney. I read it. Look who they lost to in the regular season!
Look the players on those teams the last 4 years of the Brown era.
Doug Annison, Mike Hansen, Paul Marshall, Brandon Titus, Adam Walton, Misha Mutavdiz, Louis Earl.
Dale's time was over when Shaq left for the draft and Dale absolutely set the program back 10 years!!!!

It’s just make believe like always. What he’s attempting to twist his comment into is that Reed came up and helped against full court pressure which most bigs do. He tried this with his “best player” comment yesterday.

quote:Yes you did. And I see the goal posts are moving now. LSU finished 2nd in the SEC in SEC wins and total wins. 12-6 and 23-9 respectively. That is not shitting the bed.

As I said, pointless talking with you.
quote:I believe Dale should have been gone before the Lester Earl fiasco. frick Dale for not keeping it squeaky clean after antagonizing the NCAA for years. And frick LE and Roy Williams.

However, firing him when he was bringing in Randy (the consensus #1 player in the country over the likes of Rasheed Wallace and Jerry Stackhouse) and Ronnie just an idiotic captain fricking hindsight bullshite.
Keep saying it though. Lmao.
ETA: And also we didn’t lose in the first round. But I’m sure you’ll keep saying that too.

My apologies. I did not realize this is your first year watching LSU basketball.
you are excused. I have been to more games than you have watched. And have lived in Dallas for the last 6 years. Don't think for a second, you have more experience in basketball or watching it

23-9 and 12-6 with CJ, Shaq, Maurice, Vernell, and company.
GTFOH with your underachieving a$$!!!!
The last 4 years of the Dale Brown era were comical and he crippled the program!!!!

Man that is a quick “submit” to upvote you got going on. <2 seconds.
You’re useless.

Charleston So. - 6 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks, 1 turnover, 3 fouls
so you over valued his statistics and not what he did on the court because you are a casual and box score watcher. Got it.
You prolly thought Herb Jones sucked in college too huh kid.. He produced the same most games. He was never going to be our 25 point scorer. And if you thought that, then thats on you and low basketball IQ. He was always going to be our best or second best player. Doesn't mean he would score the most every or most nights. Again, you sound like a casual.

What was Reed’s injury?
Posted on 1/16/25 at 11:17 am to drizztiger
Your comebacks are as useless as Dale Brown the last 4 years of his career.
Midwest Regionals in which LSU led Indiana, 75-66, with only four minutes left.
“It didn’t look good,” Knight said. “In fact, my assistants had just about given up, and so had I. Then I looked down toward the other bench, and I saw Dale Brown standing there. I knew then that we had a chance.”
Indiana won, 77-76.
Add Knight: Of Brown’s coaching, he said: “To paraphrase Churchill, probably never has so little been done with so much.”
GTFOH!!!!!
