Redding: SEC officiating isn't broke

This guy needs to be fired. With all the money the SEC is making, they can't even upgrade to HDTV in the REPLAY BOOTH! And he doesn't see any reason to.

The replay system freezes often enough that Redding established a process for the referee to announce when the equipment is down.

Redding said the SEC will review its officiating program after the season, as it always does, but doesn't envision major changes.
"The way I view it is if this isn't broke, let's not fix it," he said. "I don't see any sort of emergency, oh my God, we've got to fix something here."

This man is an idiot or a crook (or both)

I sent him a 'Congratulatory' Chinese Dragon Letter just as I did after the 2006 Auburn game. For those not fluent in Chinese, these messages are often easier read when rotated to the left.

Exactly. At some point, Bama is going to get screwed by a call. Then it will need to be fixed.

FWIW, as much as the multibillion dollar contract gets thrown around here, that only equates to around 15 million a year for the SEC admin to cover all of their expenses.
Not saying they can't afford it, but I won't presume to know the state of their finances/payroll to say that there is absolutely no reason not to have HDTV set up in all stadiums.

I agree...but who can get all the schools to spend the $$$ to install the cameras, equipment, and maintenance on the system; especially in these economic times?

That's because I Love Lucy is in black & white.

No one believes this crap.

By simply uttering the phrase "HD replay equipment provided courtesy of <insert-manufacturer's-name>", not only would the equipment be free, but the SEC would likely make money on top of it.

Because the SEC didn't just sign a contract with ESPN worth $2.25 billion and they couldn't spend some of that money to do this, could they?

Easier answer is how bout replay equipment brought to you by Sony Vizio Samsung Toshiba! Sec sells rights to sponsors all the time why not get a sponsor to supply the replay equipment that is at least from the 90's much less now!

What part?
3 billion over 15 years, divided into 13 parts...one share for each school and the SEC takes a share.

They'll get a discount, but I doubt it is free. At least in my experiences...although I'll admit it wasn't for a cash cow sport like CFB.
But on what platform would they advertise it? SEC =! CBS.
And what if the problem is that of in stadium wiring standardization? Hell, in TD they almost just throw the video feeds over the side to get to the broadcast trucks. Maybe the SEC doesn't want to force stadiums to renovate to allow high end HD transmission to the replay booth. And we all know LSU is better off financially than more than half of the SEC.
All I said is that I won't presume to know their finances....not that it is impossible to implement.

Again, the SEC doesn't take all of that.
It is split among themselves and all of the schools, and the time period is over 15 years.
So that is about 15 million per school. And most of them are probably on a hamstring budget with that.

You are correct. That is a marketing bonanza in the South. The truth is, the SEC & Mike Slive don't want it because it hurts their excuses in the games being rigged.

Here's a novel idea...Why not just use the video from the broadcast company (either CBS or ESPN) as they show replays from various angles. All they need to do is put a TV in their booth and watch like the rest of us did this past weekend.

I was just thinking about that....don't they use the CBS when applicable anyway?
I don't see 2 sets of redundant cameras at games.

I hope this is pointed out today to show that the SEC is a crock of shite trying to protect Bama & Florida.
