If they knew the history of the red tie, they might reconsider. Years ago, wearing a red tie was a signal that one was gay.
Who is to say they dont already know that and that is the reason for wearing the red tie..

dosen't matter what they wear im wearing purple to the game, so it won't be a complete gold out anyways

And why do they have to wear khaki pants and white button up shirts....cant they just wear normal clothes?
And why do they insist on paying more for Greek tickets? I sit literally 5 feet across the isle from them and they pay more than I do. One of my friends is in a sorority and doesn't pay for those. I really don't get them. They are a different breed.

It's a tradition for all fraternities in the SEC. Not saying its a good one, but some people like to keep up with the history.
As far as the Red ties I haven't heard anything about the being required, It might just be a certain chapter on campus.

This post isn't so much about the gold game, but the fact that LSU students do not wear their school's colors to a LSU game. I could care less that they wear ties. I understand that's a tradition. I just think it's dumb to wear a color that is not LSU's to a LSU game. What say you?

Agreed, seems pretty ridiculous

Sooooo, you do care a little then?

never noticed what color ties they wore, but if they do wear red ties then yes, that's pretty stupid. Look like UGA or Ole Miss fans in the stands.

Sorry, "I couldn't care less". Better?

I prefer to look at what the sorority girls are wearing, not the fraternity boys.
I'm a big fan of the spaghetti strap sun dress.
But then again, I like girls.

Not everyone is going to agree with you. I have been going to games since I was a kid, attended LSU and yes I was in a "Frat". Not everyone feels it necessary to wear school colors and as a man in my late 30s I will be wearing the first damn thing I pick up and wont think about. But I will be loud!

Until you leave at halftime to beat the traffic, right? I love the school pride that shows, "I don't care enough to wear a LSU shirt or colors to a LSU game" I guess you are just to cool for that. That's okay. I'm the one tigerbaiting you as you walk to the stadium, because you look like an opposing team's fan.

I never leave until the game is over. You are truly a fool and don't know me from anyone. Grow up and quit worrying about what other men are wearing. Of course, why am I arguing with "Brees Nuts"??
Posted on 10/6/09 at 2:56 pm to SJTiger
I guess you are arguing because I ruffled your feathers. So let me get one thing straight, you're cool if I wear a blue or orange shirt to the Florida game, and you wouldn't think twice about saying something to me if I passed you at your tailgate right?

I now wear shorts when I go, but would have never worn shorts to a game when in school. Would have clashed with my hot-assed date's cocktail dress.

I was in a frat in the early 80's and we never had to dress like these pussys do now. I don't think I would have gone to the game if I had to dress like that. Well, honestly, today I wouldn't be part of a frat anyway.

Yes it was your superior "fandome" and wit that has got me ruffled. Damn you're an idiot. Who mentioned wearing the opposing team's colors? I have no problem with whatever you wear..jersey, paint yourself p&g, just don't tell me what to wear. Its pretty simple.

This thread is about red ties and last time I checked at least 6 teams in the SEC have some form or variation of the color Red. So, I would consider that opposing team's colors. Not to mention we played ULL a few weeks ago, RED.
