It ranks composite talent on each team.

I'm not a fan of believing it's the tell all regarding talent, because we have busts, injuries, positions of need, etc.. But it's a good general idea.

Thanks. I didn't realize 247 had a composite talent ranking. USC #4. That's really not getting much bang for the buck.

All three teams we lost to were in the top 20 in composite talent ranking.

What about 2017?

I think you are looking at the rank to much and not the quality. Yea. Miles got some top notch playmakers to come here. What O is doing is reinforcing our trenchmen something miles did not do.

Yep, probably the biggest underachiever in the top 20

I keep hearing this and it's all theory at this point. When are we going to see the improved trenches applied in the games?

When we get some. Damn that was an easy one.

You know he's had the job since 2016 right?

Right, and according to that the only two teams we played that we had any business losing to were Bama and UGA. UGA was a very good win and the high point of the season.

But we lost to UF and A&M and finished third in the West. That is not a great season or an upward trend.

I agree it's not a great season, but you would have to be blind to think we're not on an upward trend.

True, O was the interim coach in 2016. He was also the RC for the 2016 class which is one of the best top to bottom classes we've had in terms of productivity. Les and O deserve credit for a very good class.

2017 was not great, but it may take another year or two to determine value. The empty slots were used to get Burrow and Tracy, but losing Surtain and getting Alexander was obviously a big loss.

when 1 year doesn't make a trend

1 year can start a trend, though. Our 1995 recruiting class with Faulk was a catalyst for locking down the state again.

That's not near enough time for guys like ben. And if the end of the 2019 season finds us with 3 losses (or more) again, guys like ben will be tossing excuses out there like there's no tomorrow.

They're worse than blind. They're willfully ignorant. They'd rather argue against all evidence and twist that evidence to fit their narrative than to just admit the honest truth. It's comical at this point.

An interim HC is like a substitute teacher. No real teeth in the position. He's had the actual job since the end of '16. But you know that.

Who’s not happy about the recruiting? I think OP is just pointing out that it’s really no better than what Les was doing. We’ve still failed to sign a dominant OT.

That's exactly what some here can't understand and it's become quite clear that they never will.

Orgeron was hired to turn LSU's talent into conference championships and playoff runs. The idea when Miles was fired is that LSU just needed a couple "tweeks" and O was the guy to bump LSU back up to an elite collegiate program again.

Orgeron had a good season last year and there's not any true LSU fans who are disappointed with the outcome. However, there isn't any measurable results that support the idea that Orgeron is improving or doing anything better for the progran than Miles was doing. That's not being critical of O at all, it's just reality.

Hopefully, next season Orgeron can change all this and solidify himself as a conference and NC contending head coach. After all, that's exactly what O was hired to do and he embraced these high expectations when JA removed the interim tag making him LSU's head coach.

Tell his loyalists this then. They talk about the records the offense broke once he took over. He got credit for that, but when it comes to roster issues, he bears no responsibilities.

People need to make up their minds as to if he deserves credit for the interim performance or not.

Yeah, this is just a flat out lie.
