Is it normal for defensive backs and running backs to be leading the team in ANY weightlifting category? I would think the line players would dominate here.

Well its just Ford, Minter and Peterson with the rest line players. We all knew Ford was a workout freak, and Peterson is just a freak athlete.

It's good to see that two of the strongest players are O-Linemen(Lonergan & Hurst) who are replacing the two weak links on last years O-Line.(T-Bob & Hitt)

I find hit hard to believe there was ever any Div. 1 school with 80 players who can bench over 400 pounds.

Doubtful that this is true.

Also, I do not believe PP's "hand timed" 4.2 is accurate. Hard to believe Mingo can lift that much weight with his body weight, but if true, that's impressive.

I find it really hard to believe some of these numbers.

On the other hand, even if you were to add .10 seconds to those 40 times, that is still ridiculous times for 4 DBs on your team.

Mingo at that bench seems a lot, but who knows.

Also, someone should bring this to the SEC rant to see what all the other bastards say.

Strength doesn't slow a person down. Look at Petersons squat as an example.

At least it's nice to read something positive on this nega site for a change.

Line was weak last year. Offense and defense.

too bad none of those 40 times will hold true for the combine

Those times are obviously HAND TIMED as they repeatedly pointed out. I guess they are trying to psych out the other teams. Who would fall for such blatant BS? No one at the combine had times like that much less LSU having several. Florida did the same thing and it didn't help them last year.

The 40 times makes me wonder how the other numbers are cooked as well.

Remember the thread a couple years ago about how 80 guys on LSU's team could bench over 400?

That is absolute bullshite bro... not a chance in hell 80 players benched over 400. you beleive the dipshit that starts said rumors. as a former college football player i can say without hesitation that 400lbs is a shite ton to bench and you will never see more than say 10 guys on any given team put that up.

I am surprised that there are so few D-line folks named...
Should we draw any conclusions about that?

I think it would be reasonable to expect most of your offensive and Defensive tackles to be at the top of the lifting statistics. 400 lbs isn't unreasonable for a 300 lb athlete.

Ford must be a beast. I really hope to see him in the rotation this season.

Only 2 guys benched over 400 pounds? Am I reading that right?

no way that is a complete list. No way.

if it is, we are in deep shite.

yes, i know that the bench is overrated lift compared to power clean, squats, and more functional plyo drills.....but it's safe to assume that at least 2 guys on each line would bench 400+.

perspective, Shawn Jordan benched over 600 at LSU if i remember correctly.

BS.

3-4 OL, 3-4 DL, and 2-4 LB/FB and you are at that number already.

i was thinking the same thing about the offensive line too.. i woulnd't look to much into it as i would imagine several of the lineman didn't "push" themselves too hard for testing week. with big guys it is a big concern that you can hurt yourself trying to throw up big weights, especially in the squat and olympic lifts. i'm guessing this is why we see more skill position players on the top 5 lists.
