Reality sometimes is hard to face but we're in serious trouble defensively

You win games with offense and championships with defense and our defense is absolutely horrible, but I don't blame the players. At this point of the season, we shouldn't be having major issues, especially against a team like Missouri. Yes, they were undefeated but they beat a bunch of tomato cans, period.
I'm starting to believe this is a coaching staff issue. I understand having to make minor adjustments in games, but early on Missouri was slicing us up like we were a winless SWAC team.
Sometimes, you make mistakes with hires and I think this may be one. Our defensive players aren't motivated, out of position, making wrong reads, wrong scheme alignments and no adjustments until we are two scores down. We start every game defensively chasing our tails and that should not happen this far into the season.
We need a complete defensive staff overall, with the exception of the top recruiters because you need them to continue to bring in top defensive talent.
I feel confident in saying we will escape Auburn, but we're in for a butt kicking against Alabama. It's the last thing I want to see happen, but the reality is our defense is not very good. We escaped Missouri, but Alabama is a whole new ballgame!
We are so blessed to have Daniels because we would otherwise be battling Vandy for the worst team in the SEC. We're so bad defensively that we might even make Jimbo look like a good coach! Let that sink in...

Shut up, dummy. When’s the last team that won with a great defense and mid offense?
Today’s game is about scoring points and being average at d.
I’m not saying we’re close to average at d but the adage of defense wins championships ran Lester out of a job.

You clearly have never coached football because defenses will always win championships! Offenses are entertaining, but when you get up against the elite teams, defenses still and will always win championships!
Please tell me of any football team that has given up 40 points a game defensively, but scored 50 points offensively and has won a championship! It doesn't happen!

Sounds like you are the dummy. Georgia won with Defense the last two years.

Not true anymore. You win championships with elite offense and good enough defense.

Defense doesn’t win championships anymore offense does all you need is a decent defense bend but don’t break

Uhhhh the last 2 Georgia teams. Last year their offense was above average with great defense. But the year before that was average offense great defense.

Not this day I’m age defense just has to be good enough you have to have elite offense to win championships now you can have the baddest defense in the country but your offense has to score points!!!

We lost to Missouri 45-41 in 2020. We haven’t stopped them yet. They have cut us up before.
Our D stinks, we need coaching changes, but this has been coming for awhile. We staved it off last season with some good pickups, but we weren’t as fortunate this year.

Hot fresh take. None of this had ever occurred to me before.

Tell that to Georgia.

There are multiple issues. Debatable and here are my top 3:
1. We have a large percentage of our defensive players who are afraid of contact
2. Our tougher guys are playing out of position
3. Our coaches are unable to demand or even adjust much because we lack the intensity

Just let go and enjoy the wins one at a time. We all know the defense is crappy but now each win is a blessing and gravy on what we think could be a disappointing season but we could be surprised. I suggest you lighten up lower your expectations and just enjoy the ride.

UGA had the same caliber of defense every year under Kirby Smart but they didn’t win anything until they hired Todd Monken and starter scoring points.

2021
9th Pts/gm
26th Total Offense
2022
5th Pts/gm
5th total offense
The idea that Georgia won with an average offense is completely false.

Talk to Lincoln Riley.

List of champs since the playoffs began with D ranking points allowed and then O ranking points scored:
TEAM D/O
Georgia 5th/5th
Georgia 1st/10th
Bama 13th/2nd
LSU 32nd /1st
Clemson 1st/4th
Bama 1st/15th
Clemson 10th/14th
Bama. 3rd/30th
Ohio State 26th/5th
It’s obvious that there is more ways than one to skin a cat.
