Several rantards have no clue what mediocre means. Look it up. It means average, moderately acceptable but not good. Translate decent.

LSU is above average, actually good. Top 10 to 20 isn't mediocre.

Agree. The rest of this season and recruiting this year is pivotal to the direction of the LSU program.

The previous recruiting classes while top 15 in ranking, were overrated. Talent isn't there.

This I can agree with.

How many national titles does Bama have?? I rest my case. Win all you want. If you don't get the hardware, who gives a shite.

I do, and I'm just as p.o.'d as anybody about a bunch of things, including what I perceive to be ineptness among the coaching staff; I don't thing Les Miles is a good coach. However, I don't have this "NC or nothing mentality." That's for schools like USCw and "The U" who have no fans when times are tough, but are overflowing with them when they're NC contenders. I do, however, hate more than anything to lose to Ole Miss. Last night was inexcusable.

Above average for a long period of time. 1 game is enough to piss me off, but it is not the measuring stick of decline.

I submit if we go 8-4 that a decline has occurred.

We certainly handled Bama in the BCS championship. NOT! That one was totally on Les Miles, like too many others!

This is a true statement. Echoes of the opposing sec coach in Athlon preseason mag! A Slow steady decline of this program. Look at the other teams in the sec. One can see the power shift taking place. Look what happened this weekend. We will end up with at least 3 conference losses and maybe even 4. We had 0 in 11, 2 in 12, and up to 4 in 13. If a person can not see a decline in those numbers, you are stupid! Bama repalces as many players everry year that we do. Watch what they do in 2014 with a new qb. Will win out most probably! 2012 class was as weak as everyone said!

It's a do or die for the staff in recruiting this year. If LSU can hang on and win 10 (which is what we expected) haul in a huge class and improve next year, the decline is a myth.

Every year the Rant sets up a do or die strawman like this, and Les finds a way to solve it. Then we set up a different strawman for the next year. The point of the decline is that if you can't get over the hump you will never be elite and you could be considered 'mediocre' or similar to program like Clemson or VT that every years wins some games but never has anything of substance to show for it.

Les will find a way to get out of this too, and get his patented 10 wins, then we will go back to half of the Rant bitching about his failures, and the other half singing his praises for the wins.

If you're disappointed in 10-2 seasons every year, then so be it, I don't really care. But when you say that it means LSU is on a decline, and you saying your stupid fricking bullshite is called a "reality", then you are making it really easy for me to call you a fricking retard, because you are one. That is a "reality".

Our fans are acting like spoiled rich kids. We're so high and mighty that 9 or 10 wins are not good enough

another problem we have is player retention. The bama juniors mostly come back for their senior years. We lose all of ours and most go undrafted. There is no sense of loyalty and wanting to stay and try to play for title. That puts us behind the 8 ball every year! having to break in so many new players each year!

You really think we will only lose 2 games this year?
