wtf are you talking about? of course I know who dalton hilliard is. I also know that he has absolutely nothing to do with my post. I was referring to the OP. Saying LSU has never been elite is plain ignorant trash.

LSU is as attractive a job as any team in the country. I am not drinking Kool Aid and think we are the best of all, but name me another SEC school that has a 90,000+ seat stadium, top notch facilities, within driving distance to Houston, and has won 107 games since 2000 along with 2 BCS and 3 SEC titles. You can't. Don't try. While LSU may not be "elite", it's a program that is one of the ten best when it comes to overall prestige, success, and dollars made.

By the way, LSU is one of only 2 schools that foots its own bill and receives zero assistance from the government. The only other is Nebraska. LSU football pays for a lot of the academic programs to stay afloat that otherwise would have had hundreds more lay offs. It's a good job.

Then if we are a stepping stone, what is Michigan State? A cupcake?

Are they elite? Do people talk abot Michigan State & Bama in the Same sentence, when not doing a story about Nick Saban?

Arnsparger left, why? Dietzel left, why?

Truth be told, Saban might have been a DB coach for Arnspager, though after giving up 500+ through the air to Florida in 2001, doubt it.

UF is so much more Elite than LSU, their bowl record supports this thought.

UF is 18-19
LSU is 21-19-1

All Time Football Record

UF 654-374-40
LSU 710-387-47

With all their ELITENESS, historically they have 3 NC's to our non-elite 3NC's.

BTW their overall SEC record is
UF 290-212-15
LSU 343-225-25

If only we could even have stats to slightly compete withe their ELITENESS!

I'm done, you are right. Don't be so easily fooled by the media. Last but not least, have you even stopped to realize that UF and LSU currently have HC's that are having the most success that those programs have ever seen respectively? Just something to chew on

My bad, I FIFY.

No. Alabama & specificaly their Boosters & real Top Brass (Not Mal Moore) had the balls to go out get an NFL Head Coach.

Has LSU ever done this?

Will they under Mighty Joe Alleva?

Ellis beat me to it.

Florida wasn't jack before Spurrier. They were awful, historically.

Their premier status was earned recently.

But... OUR recent success doesn't count, COMBINED with an honorable past?

You've got to be kidding me.

LSU has NOTHING to be ashamed of with its historical record in football. It belongs in the upper tier of the SEC.

Anyone claiming that LSU is not a top tier team of the SEC needs to go read a damned history book. The SEC's very identity is shaped by the historical efforts of Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, Auburn and Florida.

Alabama is on a level apart from all others. They are the single "elite" program... meaning they are alone at the top.

But the other programs listed above are the pillars of the SEC. None stand so far apart from the others as to be "elite."

BUT... the SEC would not be what it is without them. There's no reason to downplay LSU's role in shaping the SEC itself, along with the other "pillar" institutions.

No, I don't discount what my Alma Mater did before 1990. We used to wish we had 7-1 teams like this one & 1987 (7-0-1) & National Championships.

Then we finally get there & the fans want to fire the Head Coach.

Great..bring on the next hire/fire coach.

Prior to 2000 you're correct. We have been elite for a decade.
