The suggestion that Bama would stay ahead of a top 5 undefeated BCS conference team is laughable.
I believe they would be 5th behind a 4th ranked LSU, but unable to leapfrog without us losing another one.

You are thinking with Logic. Throw that out the damn window, Controversy Creates Cash. It is all about the money, when people are happy they are content and can divert energy to other areas, it is discontent that creates obsession.
Translation: when people are pissed due to a controversy in sports ( football in-particular) ESPN/ CBS Sports/ Fox Sports makes money due to higher ratings.
