If JJ begins the season as the starter, do you still feel this way?
There is no way Miles is just going to hand the keys to the car over to Mett with JJ still here.
jmo.
My thoughts as well. JJ will be starting at least the first game and, well, if we lose that game, it could be the stain that keeps us out of the ncg

Not to be a debbie downer but what about the losses on defense? I know this is the year were defense does not when NC's but next year who will step up on the D side of the ball ? IYHO

Only if Mett is already developed as a QB cause we have no QB coach to develope QBs. Hopefully 1 year at Georgia and 1 year at the JUCO has developed Mett. What everyone has failed to remember is that JL and JJ were both highly recruited QBs coming out of high school just as high as Mett. If you look at GC's track record, he does well with veteran QBs that did not start under him. Tim Rattay at LA Tech was a JUCO transfer and Matt Flynn was developed under Saban.

No, but he was developed by Jimbo.

I view us as losing a net two starters on defense. Sam Montgomery was lost against Tennessee and will be back. There is no doubt that losing Sheppard, Nevis and Peterson will hurt. But, we still have Brockers, Downs, Agaheyere, Edwards, Mingo, Adams and Logan returning. Add in Ego and Freak and you have a nice core on the DL. Nevis will be missed, but not as badly as you think.
Same with Peterson. Claiborne, Simon, Mathieu and maybe Brooks will do fine. Where we will really miss PP7 is on special teams.
Sheppard is harder to replace but you would think Minter, Barrow, Maclin, Muncie, etc--one will emerge. It's up to Baker to step into the leader role.
Offense will be much better, defense won't be much worse, schedule is favorable.
Is it really "realistic" to expect a MNC. No. But it is at least not completely unrealistic. Which is a far cry from the state of the program 365 days ago.

Yes, and Jimbo was under Saban

Look I understand LSU has had major QB issues the past few seasons, so anything different (mett) is going to be met with great optimism. But take a step back for a second. He has yet to take a snap at this high of a level. He has yet to throw against an SEC defense. His collegiate experience consists of going through a redshirt year at UGA (where he wasn't even first string) and a year at JUCO. And now you're saying he's going to come in and win the national title? Why don't you let the guy get a game or two under his belt before crowning him some sort of savior.

Yes one is Alabama, Auburn, and Arky will and should have new qb's starting for their teams. Our home schedule is favorable next season with a ton of returning starters. We win championships in odd number years.

Would have been really dumb to redshirt him if he was first string.

We have good talent to replace them. Replacing their leadership will be the difficult part.

Honestly our first concern needs to be Oregon to start the year. We've struggled against those juggernaut offenses this year, now we lose three of LSU's greatest defensive stars. Losing a game to Oregon could very well put an end to NC hopes, we all know how difficult it is to run through the SEC unscathed. A win against Oregon to start the season could very well jumpstart a NC run.

Missed the part where Crowton was fired.

That's not exactly what I meant. Obviously Joe Cox was the QB in 2009, but what I meant to say was that Mett never overtook Murray in his time there. Even if he hadn't been booted, Murray still would've started over him.
