Realistic Portal expectations

I think the staff is doing well as far filling areas of need. Curious as to what the expectations are. Are these additions starters who will come in and ball or are they just serviceable contributors? Somewhere in between? Personally, I’d like to see more of our younger recruits get more playing time as far as game reps. I thought we’d see more of the younger o linemen mixed in more as well as guys like McKinley and Reliford and some of the younger LBs. Not starter reps, just more than what they got this past season. I’m all for adding SEC experienced portal guys, but I feel like we have ample talent as far as recruits that we’d see more of. Thoughts?

Jack Pyburn, DE
Jlmari Butler, DE
Probably finished at DE.
Michael Van Buren Jr., QB
Finished at QB.
Bauer Sharp, TE
Probably can use one more TE.
Barion Brown, WR
Expect to sign one more WR, Nic Anderson or Eric Singleton.
Ja'Keem Jackson, CB
Probably good at CB.
Need safety help. Maybe Jacoby Mathews or
Zechariah Poyser or get Sage Ryan back.
In the lead for Braelin Moore, C or Guard.
Probably done on the OL after Moore signs.

No SEC team is in a position to just sit firm with recruits (who may or may not leave) just to "see what they've got." When players are available you try to bring them in to compete. If you don't, you get your arse kicked on Saturday.
Kelly can't play a loyalty game to kids who will most likely not be loyal to LSU.

At this point the biggest need seems like safety. Unless Jackson and Stamps will start at CB next year and incoming freshman Pickett will move to safety. I hope Spears can step up.

Shouldn't there be more portal additions after 4 teams lose in the playoffs this weekend? it is stupid that the portal doesn't open until all teams are finished.

First portal is driven by the academic calendar. There is a second portal window in the spring.
