I was thinking Sweet 16.

At this point, I would just be happy if they made the tourney.

At this point I would be happy with 17 wins and an NIT bid. This team is flat out horrible on a lot of things.

at 4-4, with all being terrible losses, LSU would have to go nearly undefeated in SEC play to make the tourney

With 2 one and done NBA lottery picks you'd expect a sweet 16 appearance.

Johnny Jones should be embarrassed for what he rolling out there.

It will take a miracle to make the tournament at this point. Our non conference schedule is terrible and we are a .500 team. May have to win the sec tournament at this point.

Yup I would of thought anything shy of 2 tourney wins would of been a let down. We only have one player who is one and done.

The bb guys on here were saying Sweet 16 or bust for this team. Said anything less is a fail for JJ.

My expectations for bball was the same as football, if the coach is nice then I'm OK with our record, well nice and recruits well

My expectation was to comfortably make the tournament this year and maybe actually win one or two games there.

I absolutely think that was realistic. The fact that we've made that more difficult by the game does not mean I had unrealistic expectations.

To mean it means to this point the team is underachieving.

I thought we'd be good and we STILL have the talent of a deep tourney team, but anyone who thought we'd be 8-0 right now and end up 30-3 and grab a #1 seed in the South region just has not watched enough LSU basketball.

Exactly. There were folks on here saying they'd lose 4-5gms max. I was ridiculed for suggesting this team could go 19-11.

I still, think if they win 18-20 games and finish well (7/8 of last 10) they will get in. Ben is Star Power They will eventually get some consistent play from at least 4/5 people a game. I'm optimistic mainly because I have 6 season tickets and have bought SEC Tourney tickets and booked rooms in Nashville .... :

Denial speaks loudly. That's what that was as well as wishful thinking.

And as good as Simmons is, we squeaked in last year with two NBA future stars -- not one. I think people were expecting Quarterman, Hornsby, and Big Fat Elbert to become NBA lottery picks because Simmons arrived. And the expectations of Blakeney? Jesus. I have see far too many shooting guards at LSU to fall for that. Think of all the great shooting guards (not point guards like CJ) who were 6 foot 4 to 6'5" and elite. Yep, Ronnie Henderson and Anthony Wilson is as good as I can go, too -- and neither was elite.

Also, yes Simmons makes other people better, but he's also shown a very human side to his playing. He gets his points and passes -- sure -- but he's not playing around with opponents and throwing behind the back ally-oops to others.

Simmons will be a much better NBA player than college...his jumpshot will improve in time, but not enough to help the Tigers!
expectation was: top 15 team, top 4 seed
is: NIT, these losses will be to tough to overcome....games with wake, ou, vandy and 2 with uk are looming...I just dont see a realisit path to the NCAA with this team
