1. Saban is a very good coach and has a very good staff, but ...

2. Every scheme you utilize, every play you call, everything you try to do looks much better when your players are just better than everyone else's.

It is not so much about great coaching as it is about great recruiting!!

3. Bama has had the best recruiting classes BY FAR over the last 5-7 years. I don't care about the overall or average rating - only how many ELITE players a school gets. Difference makers. Players that set a team apart from contenders.

I know that the "star" system is not necessarily accurate in predicting success of players at the college level. But it is usually much more accurate with respect to 5-star and top 4 star elite talent. Those kids are looked at more closely by recruiters, pundits, and coaches. The truly ELITE players in high school are pretty well identified. And Alabama consistently gets MANY more of those than any other school. These are the difference makers in a game like last night - Tua, Moses, Hariis (D), Harris (N), Allen, Anoma, Jeudy, several of their O linemen, Buggs and Surtain. The list goes on ... and many of these were players from LA or that LSU had a real shot at.

4. The difference between Alabama and LSU (and Alabama and any other team for that matter) is talent LEVEL. They have elite talent all over the field. They simply have WAAAY more elite talent than anyone else. Just as an example ... one list I saw from 2017 said Bama had 18 5 stars and the next closest is GA with 8. LSU had 5.

5. Want to beat Bama? We need to beat them on the recruiting trail! We need to stop losing the Moses, Buggs, Robinson, Mathis, Lacy, Surtain battles. We need elite talent at all positions on both sides of the ball. That is what Bama has.

6. It's not about scheme or coordinators. It's about top level talent. I think Orgeron sees that and is TRYING to change it. We need to win the Sopsher and Emery battles, bring in some more elite talent, and hold on to Stingley. (It'd also be REALLY nice to steal Taulia.) And then we need to get even better next year - bring in more TOP TOP LEVEL talent.

7. Bama is a powerhouse because they are a RECRUITING powerhouse ....

Agree 100% but Saban has built a machine there and I don’t see us recruiting on their level until he is gone

Stop making excuses for the coaching.

Yes they have more talent. But not so much more that 29-0 with less than 200 yards of offense can justify.

Good coaching and good schemes can overcome talent deficits to the point that the game is at least competitive.

And while there is a talent differential between LSU and Bama it is not as great as the one between Bama and Arkansas, Arkansas State, aTm, Missouri and Tennessee.

And they ALL did better that we did. That falls squarely on EO and SE.

look what a single #1 recruiting class in 2009 did in 2011, and that was just 1!

Memphistiger, you say "stop making excuses for the coaching."

I made no such excuses whatsoever. I didn't even talk about our coaching in my post.

But for that matter, the deficiency that needs to be fixed is with our coaches. They need to recruit better!

Sometime it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.

The other teams with more yardage and points against Bama is a direct reflection of the lack of respect Bama has for them. Against us, they are supremely focused and prepared.

We are ranked 102 in offense in the country. Are there 101 more teams with greater offensive talent?

Chalking this up solely to talent is lazy and convenient. That way nothing has to be done because you know Saban is gonna pull a top 3 class all the time. And absent us getting a coach that is a better recruiter, we have no hope.

Does Purdue have more talent than ohio state? It isn't even close. Yet, they found a way to win by 29 points. It is possible to win with lesser talent, yet the coaches don't help the team at all from a scheme standpoint.

Come on.

Yes Bama prepares for LSU maybe more than for other games.

But frick that’s no excuse for zero points and less than 200 yards of offense.

Last night was a playoff game for LSU and we looked just as inept as we did on. 1/9/12

That 4* #92 WHIPPED our multiple 4*’s double and triple teaming him.

It is ABOUT COACHING.

coaching involves more than scheme. They dont just have better players they execute better and have better technique. They make you earn every yard and throw into extremely tight windows. We give yards away left and right, don't cover screens and are often out of position but try and make up for it often with talent.

Alabama has lost to less talented teams in recent years. It isn't exclusively about talent.

LSU recruits well enough to go toe to toe with Alabama. Our offense was so inept that our defense was constantly on the field, was short White for a half, and still kept Alabama out of the endzone better than any other team all year.

Burrow has moxie, but he's an average QB and our offensive scheme just wasn't getting it done. Bad QB and offensive production (and an inability to beat Bama) is why we fired Miles, but we haven't improved in that area since. Orgeron hasn't scored a point against Bama...

In all the "truth / negative / reality / let's fire all the entire coaching staff / coach O defenders / etc." posts today, I don't see anything pointing out this:

Give Saban and his staff extra time to prepare and he will win. Period. Same thing last year in the playoffs when he didn't even win the SEC.

Serious question: when will we get away from this bye week insanity?
