How many major changes have we had? O and Canada? Holding final judgement on both until a full season is in the books, but O has been making good moves as HC, so far.

Awesome recruiter

He's no better than miles. He might be as good, but that hasn't been proven yet as a HC.

What if Canada isn't As good as people think? I would hope the HC could 'meddle' a little. It is his team after all.

You don't know this, except for dline.

You mean better than the guy who put more players in the NFL than every other school? Doubtful.

You might not have liked miles offense, I didn't either. But his ability to recruit and develop every position besides QB is the very reason he averaged 10 wins a year. That doesn't just happen ya know?

If you really believe that, then you are dumb as dirt.

You don't become a NC coach, play in two NCGs, and win more games than any other SEC school from 2005 to 2015 by being a bad or poor coach.

The Alabama and Florida defeats, scoring a total of ten points while playing in BR, don't say anything good about our new head coach. Anyone not able to see that, has their head buried up their arse. Now, the bowl win was nice. It was a strong defensive effort and the offensive played well enough against a pretty good defensive. I'm not sure what that win says since Louisville dropped three in a row to end their year and four overall, but good bowl win for LSU.

As to current staff, who in the hell can rate our current staff at this point?

People shite on Les because he was "loyal" but really was he?
The dude showed time and time again he was willing to make changes on D and didn't just hire someone to make a hire. He made smart decisions on Bo, Chavill, and Aranda... Yes he made Steele and went with Co-DC's but after looking back I think that was because he didn't just want to make a hire he didn't like.
He brought in Cam which this board loved, he brought in Grimes that this board loved, etc....
He did not meddle on D but he had an offensive philosophy and tried to stick with it because he won with it.
People point to Saban and say, "see he adapted and brought in Kiffin." Yet Saban isn't an offensive guy and doesn't meddlewith the offense, the D hasn't exactly evolved much since he was at LSU.

Yea I know this is a shite on Miles thread and people are creating their own false narratives for validation of their personal feelings but hopefully people can look back and see what Les did.
It was time for him to go as he became a championship coach to just a good coach, much like Spurrier at SC, however, the expectations here are higher than those at SC. LSU is expecting championships where just winning 8-10 games was enough at SC.

I'm with you groupee...bring back miles.....he was just on a 4 year downward spiral, and sure teams figured out how to play him....and yes, he was going to show everyone how to do it the miles way, and yes, people are lined up to hire him.....let's start a petition to bring back miles. We are headed in the wrong direction with new staff.

Canada can only upgrade one of the worst offensive strategies. In addition, bdp is gone...that is a major improvement on special teams without even having a replacement yet.

Have we filled all the coaching positions yet? Who is the LB coach and ST coach?

Not crazy about the OLine performance.

If Miles was a good coach, he would have been snapped up by another team by now. It's obvious how he is viewed by others.

Maybe he has learned for his mistake.
Why should we look at Miles' past?

5-6 years ago? yes. after 2011? doubtful. Miles went into a shell after the "rematch", and was never the same.

Miles turned into Mr. Coach Klein after Saban butt raped him on Jan 9 2012!

C.

It all depends on Canada. Right now, Aranda is the only elite, championship-caliber coach we have (of the HC, OC, DC) and we had him at the beginning of last season. We'll have to wait and see what Canada can do but my gut tells me he will be better than CAM.

I'm not sure how to rate the position coaches but DL and DB coaches are probably as good as they get.

I think O and Miles are a wash but Miles was definitely in decline and we don't know what O can do long-term. I have concerns about the program when Aranda leaves. He will be hard to replace. O, like Miles, is a position coach and not a tactician.

What is up with some of you goofballs? You guys really need to let Les go. You have what you wanted. Now, we need to talk about O and Alleva. Move on already.

How about letting them have a full first season then rate them on their own merit and results.

I was a miles supporter all the way until Wisconsin, when I went up there and watched Miles send a big FU to anyone and everyone asking him to change his offense. I took a lot of abuse the last few years supporting miles.

So rickdaddy, did miles learn from almost being fired? Did he come out this year and implement the mandated changes, or did he simply say FU to everyone?

The defensive staff is almost identical. They were great to begin with.

The offensive staff is still full of question marks - though I'd be surprised if it could get much worse.

O is a motivator and recruiter, not X & O coach. Those were also the specialties of Miles.

On paper, the staff appears to be about equal.

There were less power 5 jobs available this year than any year in recent memory. What jobs did Miles lose out on that he interviewed for? The only one anyone knows of is Houston.

He certainly wasn't getting the Texas or Oregon jobs because of fit - and after that there was nothing good available.

The narrative that Miles sucks because he won't coach next year is blind to the bigger picture.

So what does that tell you about Ed Orgeron? He wasnt even getting interviews for dc. I love when football ignorant posters talk themselves into a corner.
